I'm amazed aside from the Groovy Movie there hasn't been a revival of this in some capacity.

You're kickin' Randall out? YOU'RE KICKIN' RANDALL OUT?! Oh, like none of you have ever done what Randall did. Randall doesn't need this!

They did make Groovy Movie with Jay and Bob but the style was a little different so I guess maybe thats why it didn't happen but that one did?

I tried rewatching this recently and a lot of it really hasn't aged very well. Anything that brushes against racist, sexist, or homophobic tropes especially.
As I recall it is just about never punching down, and the majority of it is used to show what a jerk Randall is, but still it is very....a product of its time.
But there is still some really great stuff too.

Charles Barkley agreeing to be presented like this really is the definition of being a good sport as a celebrity guest. One who weirdly could be considered a series regular.

It's too bad that Kevin Smith didn't focus more on creating television content versus movies, because I always felt his writing style benefited the latter.
I like the first Clerks movie, and I enjoyed the show. Everything else outside of Dogma has been a pretty big miss for me, despite glimpses of enjoyment.

There was going to be an animated movie at one point but I believe Disney has the rights and wont let it happen. And bow of course the Miramax thing may further complicate things. The main problem they had was nobody knew who actually owned the show – when it was made it was owned by Miramax TV, but Miramax TV folded and he assumed the rights passed to Miramax itself, but when he approached Miramax after Disney sold it in 2010 he was told that the show wasn't part of the catalogue that came with the deal (Miramax's catalogue wound up being carved up amongst a dozen studios). Eventually Scott Mosier was able to trace the rights to Disney and Kevin pitched a revival in 2021 as a Hulu series, but it seems Disney passed on it.

I have to say, in spite of how strongly I feel about the f-slur now, I still really like the pack of cigarettes joke in the cartoon. Probably because the joke isn't demeaning gay people or homophobic, but about wordplay and miscommunication between American and British slang.

I’ve used “you’re a cigarette” as a rebuttal in an argument before EDIT: Multiple times. When i was with the ex-wife I used to use “you’re a towel” and “you’re a cigarette” in arguments I knew I was losing

And actually so did Family Guy now that I think of it. Peter, "well someone tell this cigarette to beat it."
