I know someone who has to go for a CT scan. I know usually you have to drink barium before such test. However the person I know, can not injest liquids. Is there an alternative to drinking the barium?

With a major caveat that I am not a medical doctor and just review medical records and often represent doctors as part of my job:
I believe that the barium contrast can be administered through something called an NG tube, which is for all intents and purposes a feeding tube designed to administer the contrast directly into the stomach prior to the scan. If the medical condition this person has is something other than dysphagia (i.e. the issue goes beyond just being incapable of swallowing liquids and has something to do with an inability to digest liquids or something), then they definitely should reach out to their doctor in advance of the scan and explain the issue. They should probably do that anyway.

I've had CT scans done. The dye was always injected into me via cannula.

It depends on what is being examined. Swallowing barium contrast would be used if they want to check out the the stomach or esophagus, and injectable contrast dye might be used for other body parts, depending on what they are looking for.

No, but I'm drinking Dr. Pepper so that's close enough.

I don't think Jim Neidhart was a Doctor.
