The N was running a mini-marathon of all of their Season 6 episodes so far last night, and decided to watch an episode out of pure boredom. Strangely, I got hooked instantly. The show is a more accurate portrayal of high school than any other "teen drama."
So, I was just wondering if any of you guys out there watch this show and what you think about it.

The most accurate? Heck, I'd say Saved By The Bell is more accurate than that show.

I've been hooked on that show since it started in '01. Its more accurate than a lot of other shows, but its still ridiculously over the top. The website Boycott the Caf explains it all well, all the idiot elements and what-not (i.e. the kids take the SAME CLASS for like five years in a row, and half the seniors didn't even graduate).

What kind of f***ed up High School did you go to that Degrassi looks normal? I love the show too, but damn those kids go through EVERYTHING. Seriously, one of my friends tried to come up with storylines they haven't done, and the only things they could think of are AIDS and incest.

The most accurate? Heck, I'd say Saved By The Bell is more accurate than that show. Hey, I didn't say "most" accurate. I said more accurate than most. And I was referring to some of the ones you see today, like on Nickelodeon. Ever see Zoey 101? High school is not like that. Degrassi may be a little over-dramatic, but if it were EXACTLY like the average high school, it'd be boring. I'm just saying it's a better portrayal of your typical high school, than what other shows present.

Seriously, one of my friends tried to come up with storylines they haven't done, and the only things they could think of are AIDS and incest. Did I mention I have only watched Season 6? Which so far is I think 6 episodes in. I mean, when I was watching Degrassi, it reminded me more of high school than any other high school-based teen drama. Some of the one's I've seen lately had me saying, "This isn't what high school was like." Then I watched Degrassi, and it reminded me of all the drama you find in your typical high school. I read up on some of the history of Degrassi: TNG, and a lot of that stuff actually does happen to high school students. But I will admit that it's kind of over-the-top that it happens to the same 7 characters. But back in high school, I heard about this kind of stuff going on, whether it was in our high school or area high schools. I was just saying, based on my high school experiences, although I haven't experienced ALL of the issues first-hand, it's more accurate.

It is honestly one of my favorite shows. It can be so over the top and ridiculous and damn it is funny. I also enjoy the show because to me it is people I hated in high school having the most screwed up lives possible.

I've watched the show since the beginning and I love it. The storylines are decent and deal with serious issues, but sometimes I laugh my ass off at the show. Just the way some things come across makes me laugh. Plus its hard to get past the hottness of Cassie Steele aka Manny.

I didn't even know Degrassi was on in America, I thought it was only on here in Canada. I think the thing that sets it apart from all other high school shows is that the cast is not filled with super model types. Everyone on the show is pretty average looking with the odd exception just like in a regular high school.

I remember thinking "Wow, Emma looks weird" in the first two seasons, all of a sudden she's hot in the 6th season... Repeat with Ashley... Liberty got nothing throughout the years... And Paige got weirder looking... Yeah, I used to watch this show pretty regularly... Will never, EVER hold a candle to Radio Free Roscoe though... Oh Lilly *sigh*...

And I got my friend a Degrassi poster for christmas last year. They actually air-brushed boobs onto Emma. No lie. And there's a girl at my university who looks exactly like short-hair "goth" Ashley. She could be a twin it's that close.

I like it, it is just....not only does every teenage problem happen to them, they play shuffle the love buddy almost 2 times a season....it's gotten to the point were love triangles and cheating aren't shocking anymore....

I hate Degrassi with a passion. It tries so hard to be dramatic and controversial. I mean, their hook-line is literally: "Degrassi: It Goes There". Like, "Oooh! Edgy!" Just because they deal with drugs, sex, and online predators doesn't make them any deeper than the next feminine teen drama show that's overstayed it's welcome.

The only episode I've ever seen all the way through was the one where Paige became a lesbian. If she stayed that way I would keep watching.

I love it, mainly because Marco and Ellie are so f***ing hot, but still, I love it...but bigHEADinc is right RFR was better, though Smog and Shady aren't as hot as Marco and Ellie, but it was a better show
