Parcells finishes out his last year next year, hopefully getting a ring and riding off into the sunset in the process ( I've still got my fingers crossed for this year, but we'll know how realistic that is t'row night.) Who better than to take over than one Bill Cowher... It just makes sense.

Farewell to Bill Cowher We'll probably lose either Russ Grimm or Ken Whisenhunt to one of the other teams looking for a head coach. Dick Hoak our running back coach retired as well. *sigh* Well at least we won that Super Bowl last year, it'll be a while before the coaching staff is clicking well enough together and with the players to win another one. I think it is key for them to keep their defensive sceme in tact. They run the 3-4. The steelers will be screwed for a yr or 2 if a guy comes in and uses a 4-3. Steelers not have the personal for the 4-3

You know what though, the Steelers have been blessed for alomst 40 years with coaching. I don't want to hear it if you have 2-3 bad years, ok?
Anyway, it would be better for them to go out of house to try to limit any comparisons or expectations.

My brother is a Steelers fan from earliest childhood--I made this same prediction to him and he disagreed, but I think he's in denial.

Watch. Cowher's smart, and love em or hate em if you're gonna coach, Dallas is one of THE premiere franchises.. And lord knows Jerry would pony up the dough.

When Cowher returns, his list of teams will be as such
1 - Carolina. His new home. A change of scenery. Already has a defensive mindset and strong run game mentality thanks to Fox. Plus Cowher would add the one thing missing there: Consistency.
2 - Pittsburgh. If he takes a few years off, he'll come back home. But he won't be back in 2008. Too soon.
Other than that, totally unsure. I got a feeling the NYGiants job will be open after this year so it won't be there for Cowher. Dallas is still 50/50 that they'll need a new coach. As for the rest, about 15-20 teams in the NFL would fire their coach in a heartbeat if they had a shot at Cowher.

Agreed, I have MUCH respect for the man... and dont' get me wrong, I'm hoping Parcells stays, but man I'd love to have the Chin as his successor. Hopefully Jerry learned his lesson about getting good coaches during the Switzer/Gailey/Campo trifecta.

IF he comes back into coaching it'll be Carolina or Miami (that has been getting kicked around as well)

IF he comes back into coaching it'll be Carolina or Miami (that has been getting kicked around as well) See I look at it like this. Miami will get a coach this upcoming season, so they'll probably not be looking in 08 for one. Although, it all depends on when he decides to return. Will he force his way back, or wait for his job to be open. In any case, Cowher will not be in the league in 2007.
