Okay this more common on TV series', but this drives me insane...I was recently watching "Two and a Half Men" and there was a frontal interior car scene and the backdrop was so horrible that I literally was getting mad. Then it looped. Why is it so hard to film actual moving scenes? These green screen disasters register one notch above "Waterworld" which besides "Cabin Boy" is the worst use of a green screen ever in my opinion. BTW Cabin Boy is extremely atrocious. You can even see the texture of the drop used.

I believe you mean Green screen.
A green room is where actors in a production hang out until their cue is coming up.

But...but...Duckie is on Two and a Half Men. How dare ya's to even give this show the slightest insult. They're producing that show for a somewhat cheap sitcom budget. and it's a show that's more for the performances and dialogue than the visual.

Worst green screen ever:
The Spirit Of Truth (aka Reverend X).
I can't link it. Far too vulgar. Just YouTube him. You'll see. Hilarious, but the WORST green screening in history.
Jed Shaffer ~Any preacher who swears more then Sam Kinison and Andrew Dice Clay combined is alright by me. But probably not God.

Because it's cheaper using green screen and most studios don't see the need to film car moving because what purpose would it serve? So people can say it was a real car moving?

While I agree that bad green/blue screen is bad, it is just a TV show, and shooting actual moving car scenes can jack up the budget real quick. Between multiple takes, actors messing up, actors having to act while driving, the director needing being near (so he'll probly need a car to, or not let them drive but so far), crew being around (same as director), either having camera men in/around the car or camera's mounted, having to block off normal traffic so you can film, possibly having to build an entirely new set just to be used for the drive, hiring other drivers to be the background drivers. A lot more would go into it than you think, and for a 30-minute sitcom it would be more of a hassle (for the crew, cast and production company) than is needed.

Actually most car scenes are done with the car being either on a flat truck ( strapped to it obviosuly) with the equipment on the flat truck or with the car itself being towed by a tow truck. Regardless, as you said, traffic would need to be halted. Not worth it for really a 24 minute show with less than 30 seconds actually used car scene.
Also, most movies go overbudget cause little things like a moving car scene is alot of hassle and takes alot longer than you'd think. I don't know what green room scenes of Waterworld you are talking about unless it's the underwater shots.

You're right, and as much as I love movies and all (I've managed a video store for 8 1/2 years now, and I'm someone that actually knows their job) I should have known better. I'm glad you got the jist of what I was trying to say though.

I hope I didn't sound critical of you. I was going to mention that stuff anyway and just wanted to make mention of stuff you said and what you said was correct. There are scenes filmed with the camera equipment on and someone driving. Pulp Fiction when Butch runs over Wallace was done with camera strapped to the side window and a driver and having to make sure all that stuff works.
I've done some interning for the NY Mayors office of Film and Television so I've seen some of the ways theyve filmed these scenes and also from docs and audio commentary of how things were done. I'd rather work at a video store personally than take the crap I get from hack producers in the office and sometimes on set.
