What do you recommend is the best way to play Duck Hunt on a modern flat screen HG TV?
Is is possible to play it on a NES Front Leader, or do I need a Top Loader or a NES knockoff?

You can't play stock zapper games on modern TVs, unfortunately. You need to play patched versions of the games using a flash cart.

What about the Hyper Blast HD have they created a version that works with the front loader?

There's multiple games like this, not just zapper games.
You legitimately can't beat level 11 for Battletoads on a modern TV no matter how good you are.
Thankfully I still have my old cheap 12' Sharp TV I inherited from my sister, who won it at prom back in 1998. I lost the remote for it many years ago and the brightness is super low on it, but it still gets put to use if I need to beat some of these old 8 but games.

There was the Wii U release if that's a thing you can make work.

There is a slight delay on HDTVs that makes the precise controls off, meaning that you cannot change directions correctly. This is also noticeable in games like Mike Tyson's Punch Out, a game that I am excellent at on a tube TV, yet struggle to beat Great Tiger on a standard HDTV.

An example I'm very familiar with is how on modern hardware fishing in Harvest Moon 64 is extremely hard due to how tight it makes the window for reeling them in. Fortunately outside of a couple of Power Berries (one of which isn't actually functional) there isn't much reason to do it anyway but it's still unfortunate.

Get yourself a cheap crt. You can on eBay get them for like 50 bucks at the most. They'll most likely need refurbishing on the appearance end like needing a new paint job ect. Or check your local thrifts old people don't like change and like to keep their possessions but they're old and plenty die and their families want nothing to do with grandpa's ol TV. My brother at one point had about 15 crts just from thrift dives and cheap pay now eBay stores

You legitimately can't beat level 11 for Battletoads on a modern TV no matter how good you are. I can't even legitimately get past the damn speed bikes, no way I'm getting near level 11

The way to play them is to keep your character to the left of the screen as much as possible and to ONLY watch the right side of the screen as obstacles come up.

Surprised Nintendo never revisited this and the other lightgun games during the Wii era, especially when they were kind of playing around with older IPs.

Surprised Nintendo never revisited this and the other lightgun games during the Wii era, especially when they were kind of playing around with older IPs. In Wii Play they had a shooting gallery minigame that paid tribute by having clay pigeons and ducks fly across the screen during target rounds worth bonus points, but it wasn't a proper "revisit". More a wink and a nod. It also included a round where you juggled a can, reminiscent of Hogan's Alley.
