I think a lot of people who obsess extremely over certain subjects/has lack of friends are autistic....you prolly know people like that in everyday life but you might not have thought about it. Someone with autism might appear rude cause they act differently , but they can't help it....they DO care about things it's just that many have difficulty to express those things y'know ? The movie Mozart and the whale is about Asberger...people who want to know more about it should see it , maybe they'd understand more how they feel

Um....sure. I'm not trying to be rude. This post just kinda seems out of nowhere. I actually know a guy who graduated from my university last year who overcame autism. They said he would never function in a group setting and probably never finish HS. Plus, it just allows me to post this www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRDqSkBi__I

I've hear both Thomas Jefferson and Albert Einstein suffered from autism. Comfirmation?

This is kinda out there...but if people are interested, i suggest reading a book called "The curious incident of the Dog in the Nightime" It's a great read and written from the perspective of a young boy with autism.

I have Aspergers and I hate that book so much! It only took 2 hours to get through though.

A kid in my school used to brag about having Aspbergers. That wasn't the case at all though, his parents were looking for an excuse.
It was more of a forced autism. Otakunism.

I work with people on the autistic spectrum all of whom also have severe to profound mental retardation so that are fairly low- functutioning. All of them show typical autistic behavor's (difficulty interpreting stimli, difficulty making eye contact etc.)

www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8E3fh5xIdcMild form of autism which manifests itself in certain character traits. I'm not sure how much more I can add to this debate, despite having a bunch of AS friends. I think the original point is "don't be nasty to autists", but then, doesn't that ring true for anyone, autistic or non-autistic?

I've never truly understood the condition, but then I've never met anyone with Autism/Asperger's, so I'm not really experiencec.

I got Aspergers myself...I hear they sold off movie rights or something on that Jason kid, the basketball person.
I'm REALLY hoping they don't overdo the autism and make it look like everyone with autism=unfit for society. I will be mega pissed if they do.
School was a b**** for me, but I kept a 3.0 GPA throughout and am doing fine in college. I can hold a job just fine (you do get the wafer-thin philosophy pricks who can't shut up about the LITTLIEST ticks (rhyme not intended), but its not too bad).
They just ride a thin line. Some of them can fend off all of it and go on to be a sucess. Some of them let the pressure of a personal life and balancing several things fold in on them though. Thats why its said alot of people with aspergers need alot of encouragement keeping a lifelong career, even if its something they enjoy. They tend to get sick of its downfalls and focus on those downfalls.
