I'm not that well informed on this and I don't mean to sound disrespectful but why must having certain character traits be diagnosed as a 'syndrome'? Can't it just be accepted that everyone has different personalities? This type of thing could be taken to a stage where every single person in the world is diagnosed with something or other.

When I hit about 10, I became the oldest dude on the school bus, so I got to look after the troublesome kids, most of whom were autistic. They were good kids, but the girls on the bus made him bad. I'd be sitting with him and he'd be playing with his little toy cars on the seat, not bothering anyone and they'd take it away from him (keep in mind these girls were my age and a year or two older), so he'd get up and try to get his car back....it would cause a big scene....everyday was the same fight.
"Just give him his car back, he's not hurting anyone" "He's not supposed to using it on the seat, he could get hurt." "He won't get hurt." "Yes he will, he's stanidng up." "Yeah, now that you took his car away, he was playing nicely until you took it away".
Morons.

Yeah, a lot of autistic kids will get VERY upset if a routine or something they're playing with is changed/taken away. For example, one day when we were in high school, my brother walked through an insane thunderstorm to get to school-because he always walked to school. Same route, left at the same time.

There is an autistic who works where I do.
One of the older guys always bullied him..untill I took the autistic kid aside one day and told him to talk to a manage about being harassed (I already had repeatedly) and to not take any shit from anybody.
I literally had to talk him into speaking to the manager..but he did..and the manager caught the guy bullying him and informed him that he didnt want to even hear the asshole speak to the autistic kid again.
It almost got to the point where I was going to conront the bully..but I didnt know if that would just put off the autistic kid or what.

List me as Autistic too.
It's funny, actually. People told my parents I'd never get to anywhere outside of special schools. That I'd never be able to communicate to people properly and stuff.
And now I'm a few months away from going to University after getting my GCSEs and A-Levels.
Sometimes it feels good to prove people wrong.
And by the way, The Strange Incident of the Dog in the Night Time is probably one of my favourite books of all time simply because it reminds me of myself and other people I know with Autism
