I don’t necessarily means podcasters themselves, as they’re usually also YouTubers and streamers. But by now, there must be some good stories about behind the scenes drama of certain podcasts.
I ask this because I, decided to look up the Sunday nights main event podcast, and it looks like they haven’t updated in over a month. So I go to their social media and their Twitter is wiped, their Facebook page and group is gone, and last host doesn’t talk about them at all on their social media.
I had some clue what was going on by things they mentioned in passing, but I found a lot of what happened on the post wrestling message board. And even before this, snme and post wrestling had some issues after the dissociation of the Law. And the Law itself is quite interesting as it was recently revived
If I had the talent and enough sources to cite, you could make a whole bunch of the rise and fall of the law and it’s splintering of the snme and post, the fall of snme and revival of the law

Theyre not really big podcasters, but 4 Player Podcast on Twitch/YouTube. Back when Justin.TV/Twitch really kicked off and it was all about gaming, they were really popular. Won Podcast of the Year in gaming like 3 years in a row because the fanbase was there, and the best part was the 4 dudes had their own personality.
But then they cut ties with 2 of them, brought in people that their core audience didnt really click with and now they're lucky to get 30 viewers on Twitch on a good day, whether it be during their podcast recordings or game streams.

I guess the most prominent one is Ben from Last Podcast on the Left turning out to be a serial abuser.

I remember MBMBAM having to change their closing theme because the guy who did the song was the infamous "can opener dad".

Eddy Burback used to do a podcast with a guy named Gus Johnson, but ended it and completely cut Gus out of his life when, uhh, shit got out about how Gus had treated his pregnant ex.

I guess the most prominent one is Ben from Last Podcast on the Left turning out to be a serial abuser. Their numbers halved after they removed him from the podcast. He still owns a 3rd of the podcast network itself. I don't think a majority of their audience followed the whole issue on reddit/twitter or even cared. Replacing Ben with a similar comedian was like making Itchy and Scratchy about Poochie.

No controversy, but I miss James and Mike Play... videos.
Good way for Rolfe to keep on doing classic gaming content without only making AVGN videos.

Since OSW is technically a podcast, I guess Neo counts, wherever he is.

On their fan forums there was a good amount of discussion about Ben being bought out. Although Googling it I don’t think there’s ever been any confirmation. LPOTL is small enough where they don’t really have to make any of that info publicly available so he could very well still be a part owner. I haven’t listened to the show since a little before Ben left. It’s a shame because for a little while there they seemed to be on the cusp of getting to another level. Maybe if they just had a few more strong strings of episodes, a few great interview gets, or some other new successful project. But honestly that time has passed and they were going downhill before the Ben saga. I’m pretty sure even the Spotify deal from years ago had disappointing results hence why it wasn’t renewed. The Ben stuff really brought some other stuff into focus too. Namely the very disappointing reaction of a sizable chunk of their fanbase. Gallows humor tends to attract some assholes, but going after abuse survivors is gross. The fanbase had assholes before, but like I said the extent of them was really brought into focus. When I think of LPOTL I’ll very quickly think things like, “That’s a bummer “ or “What could have been?” It’s part of the reason I stay away from it. There’s no shortage of entertaining podcasts and they don’t have that baggage.
