We all knew it would happen, but they each got over 98% of the vote! Awesome. Meanwhile, Mark 'Cheater' McGwire got a mere 23% of the vote.
Goose Gossage BARELY missed it- 71%.

Congrats to two great players and overall human beings.
I still can't believe Rice missed it again. He got 63% though so he's getting close.

It's time that Rice got into the HoF. As a Red Sox fan, I can say we all believe he should have been inducted years ago. With that said, I believe that McGwire does deserve to be inducted, maybe not this year but eventually. Baseball had no policy on the substances that he was useing so he technically broke no rules. I also believe that Pete Rose deserves to be in the hall. If you allow Ty Cobb, a saddistic racist in you need to make an exception for a guy who bet on games.

It's now being reported that there was one person who decided not to even vote for anyone to be inducted. He is on ESPN News now saying that the reason he didn't vote was because he believes that nobody, not even Ripken or Gwynn, deserve to get in unanimously.

Devon White 0 0.0 Bobby Witt 0 0.0 LOL at Devo and Bobby Witt, seriously why are they nominated I think if you played ten or more years you get on the ballot automatically. If you get less than 5% of the vote you are one and done.

Dale Murphy was my favorite player growing up.
Not sure he should be included though..the HOF should be mega exclusive.

I would have voted for Bobby Witt. Mostly out of pity. Because I'm a Rangers fan.

congrats to Ripken and Gwynn. McGwire on the other hand, although he didn't get in this year deserves to get in sometime down the road. for those who are familiar with Bill Simmons of ESPN.com, he makes a good case as to why McGwire deserves to be in the Hall, also in the most recent ESPN the magazine.
seperately, I feel if Pete Rose ever comes clean and apologizes for his gambling, its time to let him be eligible for the Hall. not only that but Shoeless Joe Jackson deserves to be eligible as well

Rose did aplogize and admitted to gambling on baseball and now they kill him for lying about it. He'll never get it unless.

I'm really surprised some of those guys aren't already in the HoF. There must be some pretty stiff criteria that I'm not familar with.

Players have done much worse than bet on baseball. The Hall of Fame is based on what you did on the field, and no one can deny Rose is one of the best who ever played.

2008: Shawon Dunston, Travis Fryman, David Justice, Mike Morgan, Tim Raines, Randy Velarde
2009: Mark Grace, Rickey Henderson, Dean Palmer, Dan Plesac, Matt Williams
2010: Andres Galarraga, Edgar Martinez, Robin Ventura
Not an impressive list of players coming up in the next few years. My guess would be Henderson and maybe Grace make it in 2009.
