credit: baseballhalloffame.org 2008: Shawon Dunston, Travis Fryman, David Justice, Mike Morgan, Tim Raines, Randy Velarde 2009: Mark Grace, Rickey Henderson, Dean Palmer, Dan Plesac, Matt Williams 2010: Andres Galarraga, Edgar Martinez, Robin Ventura Not an impressive list of players coming up in the next few years. My guess would be Henderson and maybe Grace make it in 2009. No way Grace is a HOFer. I predict Henderson in 09 and maybe Edgar in 2010

Rickey is a lock. Edgar will be the litmus test for future DHs. Hey David Ortiz, it's not too late to go to Dicks to buy a glove.

Henderson deserves to be in and next year should be Jim Rice's year.

Tim Raines is a HOFer, in my book. Unfortunately, he won't go in. So I think Goose has a great shot next year. Blyleven belongs, but he's been stagnant lately.

The issue with Rose that people here seem to be forgetting, is that by betting on baseball, he could tarnish the very legecy of the game. He says he never bet on games his team played, but that can't be proven. And that leaves the possibilty that he could have put gambling before trying to win. For as bad a person as Ty Cobb may have been, to use an earlier example, he never threatened the purity of the league like Rose could have. And saying Rose deserves to be in because there are people in the hall who acted poorly outside the sport doesn't make sense to me. Also, Rose is in the HOF, credited with having the most career hits, and I'm sure a few other things. He just doesn't have a plaque and a formal induction.

If DH's shouldn't be in the HOF, then why should relievers?
My point: relievers are an important part of baseball, and so are DHs. Comparing it to football, kickers barely play, but they're super important too, and they should be in the football HOF.
So what if DHs don't play the field? If you have a DH who is clutch and comes through when his team needs him (i.e. Ortiz), then he deserves as much consideration as someone who plays the field too.
