that took you a while realize they were actually pretty cool.
Man I hate Aziz ansari because I only knew him as the douchebag from parks and recreation. Sam with the people who played Jean Ralphio and Mona Lisa.
Next thing you know, you find out Anzis is a pretty chill guy and the other two, one's a damn good Sonic the hedgehog, and the likable girl from The Great North.
Man Will and Grace, I found all those characters so annoying. Especially Megan Mullally. But it turns out, she's pretty damn cool. Turns out she was the chill one and Debra messing the problematic one.
Hated Schmidt on new girl, love him on the Neighborhood.
Ashton kutcher, was so convincing as a douche on that 70's show, Punk'd, dude where's my car. Didn't expect him to be a staunch anti child trafficking advocate.

my dad doesn't like Forest Whitaker because he played the internal affairs officer in The Shield, and every time he shows up in a movie or show his character's secretly gotta be a villain and anyone who trusts him is an idiot

Not me but Billy West told a story about how his wife was watching Oz and said that JK Simmons was not acting and is really the racist psycho he plays on the show.

Nobody comes to mind for myself, but my mom cannot stand Arnold Schwarzeneggar because of the Terminator and thinks Jim Carrey is a massive creep because of Ace Ventura.

Does she think he's a ruthless killer or something? She just thinks there's something "weird and unsettling" about him. There's also a ton of people in wrestling she doesn't like because of their characters. Particularly Flair, Brock, JBL, HHH, Stephanie, Lita, Trish, Molly, Ivory, Sable, Charlotte, Becky, and Ronda. |

Years back, Lifetime rebooted the movie The Bad Seed. I forgot who the actress was, but I couldn't look past her being this nasty, violent person who was a Karma Houdini on top of all that. Joel Edgerton was kind of like this after I saw the similar movie The Gift.
Sadly, some people saw Brokeback Mountain and thought Heath Ledger really was gay, and used that to judge when it was announced he'd be the Joker.
I'd imagine kids who grew up with The Wizard of Oz would feel like that with Margaret Hamilton, such that she had to go on variety and kids' shows to prove she could be funny or not scary. Of course, ONE example failed at that, if you know you know.
Which kind of reminds me...Polly Holliday I don't HATE, but can't unsee Mrs. Deagle.

My paternal grandmother didn't like Mark Harmon. All cause he played Ted Bundy in some made for TV movie.
She also tried to get Dad to fight Tom Boogaloo Shaft at a GCCW event. "He's cheating PAT GIT YO ASS IN THERE AND BEAT HIM DOWN!"

When I first saw Atonement I took an intense dislike to Benedict Cumberbatch due to the nastiness of his character, his slicked back hair and squinty eyes. He wasn’t overly famous then, so also seeing his odd name in the credits made me think he was all sorts of wrong.
It took Sherlock and various chat show appearances to make me see he was a decent guy and a good actor.
