Wow, that was kind of creepy...... i hate how they used the same type of scare 4 times though... got old.. but still, the double switch ending was damn well done, and is an ending thats really hard to put together. great atmosphere and great filmmaking overall..... id reccomend it

i though this movie was pretty good. Less on the scary side, more on the "wow, thats ****** up" side. But to be honest, i hated the ending.

I thought it was just okay. Better than some run-of-the-mill thrillers, but nothing really special.

I saw it.
It was pretty good. The "Somethin's gonna jump out at you and say 'BOO!'" tactic got old after awhile, but it was still a very fun movie.
The only thing that sucked was I saw it Friday night and the theatre was full of idiots who screamed and yelled at every little stupid thing that happened. For instance, everytime something wierd would happen this one lady would yell "What the f***?" and another would go "Oh no that did NOT just happen"... it got REALLY annoying.
Plus the fact that every chick felt the need to scream at the top of their lungs everytime something mildly scary happened was annoying too.

Meh.
I actually quite liked the short story 1408 that King penned, but the movie suffers from one critical flaw:
Its overdeveloped.
I really REALLY would have loved to have scripted 1408 as a small 90 minute movie that would be the most epic small-scale horror indy flick this side of BUG or EVIL DEAD.
Imagine that for this 90 minute clugger, exactly 70 minutes is the hero's time in that room....and how indeed the madness and evil of that room do try to exterminate him.
The short story itself didn't have this nonsense of a scientist that didn't believe in ghosts or whatever nonsense.
It was an author who made a career from reality horror-theme writing stunts like sleeping on Ted Bundy's grave. Thats it.
Its just his arrogance thats his undoing.
But whatever....

Just gotta know one thing before seeing this...
"1408 is an evil f***ing room!".
Haha, I laughed my ass off at that line.
