Awesome. What else can I say? Not a whole lot. That basically is one of the best words to describe them.

Deffinetly a great group. I just wish everyone knew all 4 instead of talking about them like "Jim Morrison and those other 3 guys."
Manzarek is one of the greatest rock musicians of all time. Big inspiration on me.

Yeah, these guys were talented. And it wasn't just one man, it was the entire group that was able to put these songs together. Flawless stuff.
What are some of the favorite songs, besides the obligatory "Touch Me" "Break on Through" "Light My Fire" ?

Not a huge Doors fan myself, but I do like "Riders on the Storm."

Those are great; I also have a soft spot for Riders on the Storm; Hello, I Love You; Love Me Two Times; and my personal favorite, The End. One of my favorite bands of all time. Excellent thread. EDIT: Also, how could I forget Whiskey Bar?

"Roadhouse Blues", "The End", "Moonlight Drive" and "The Celebration Of The Lizard" are all big songs for me. But my absolute favorite is "Hyacinth House". For people who say Morrison was just bombast and booze, "Hyacinth House" is pure poetry.
And to respond to you, Ani, you are absolutely correct; nobody gives the rest of the band their due. Krieger is totally unheralded and overlooked as a fantastic guitarist. Manzerak and Dinsmore were amazing as well. The way they all gelled together, their live improvs and interpretations of their own songs ... few bands can work the way they did.

The Doors make me want to go out and get an electric organ. I have all their songs on my computer. One of the best bands ever.

There aren't enough rock bands with organs anymore. There used to be tons of 'em back then.

And to think they rocked that much without a guy on the low end. Organs, but no bass. Major labels wouldn't touch that now if it won American Idol.
Jed Shaffer ~Wishing I had some Doors in the car for the ride home.

Everyone see the movie? Val Kilmer was awesome with his performance. Believe it or not I own the Special Edition DVD (got it brand new for like 5 bucks) and I've worked at a video store for 9 years, but I've never seen it.

I like Snoop Dogg's Lizard King thing he did with them, everything told me I'd hate it but I listened to it and I loved it, one pot head to another, I guess?
