Rocky 2... man, you'll love the trivia breakdowns i do before posting the Top 10. A LOT of funny things went down with voting.

#3065 PointsA Nightmare on Elm StreetReleased November 9, 1984To date, its total domestic grossings has been calculated at $25,504,513.[2] Numerous critics praised the film's ability to rupture "the boundaries between the imaginary and real,"[3] toying with audience perceptions.[4] Some movie historians interpreted this overriding theme as a social subtext, "the struggles of adolescents in American society",[5] and their overwhelming need to confront "the harsh realities of life".[6] The film (like countless other slasher films of the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s) was inspired by the classic John Carpenter hit Halloween (1978). A Nightmare on Elm Street, earning its own "classic status" spawned a long-running series of films, a television series, and a comic book series currently being published by Wildstorm.

#2870 PointsRobocopReleased July 17, 1987The film is set in a dystopian near future, in Detroit, Michigan. Violent crime is out of control, and the city is in financial ruin. The city contracts the megacorporation Omni Consumer Products (OCP) to fund and operate the police department, in effect privatizing it. God, Robocop is 20 years old, how can that be?
It's still as fresh and original now as it was then.

#2771 PointsThe WarriorsReleased February 9, 1979While ostensibly intended to reflect urban gang realities, the film has a number of dissonant notes. The gangs in The Warriors are dressed in flamboyant matching uniforms, usually with a recognizable theme, giving the film a surrealistic, comic book feel. The Warriors themselves are a gang composed of a careful racial balance, highly unusual for street gangs at the time. While the film contains violence, it is contained in scope, and while physical beatings are commonplace, actual serious injury and murder are restricted to the beginning and ending of the film.

#2672 PointsAmerican History XReleased October 30, 1998Reformed neo-Nazi Derek Vinyard is released from prison after serving three years for killing two young black men he caught breaking into his car. Upon being released, he finds that his younger brother, Danny (the narrator), has embraced his old ways in his absence and has become an active white supremacist in the group Derek led before his arrest. The film centers on Derek's decision to sever ties with his racist past whilst trying to keep his brother from following in his footsteps. The film also centers on events that lead him to change his views about other races.

#2580 PointsThe MatrixReleased March 31, 1999The film describes a future in which the world we know is actually the Matrix, a simulated reality created by sentient machines in order to pacify, subdue and make use of the human population as an energy source by growing them and connecting them to the Matrix with cybernetic implants. It contains numerous references to the cyberpunk and hacker subcultures; philosophical and religious ideas, including Vedanta, messianism, Baudrillard's idea of hyperreality and Socratic, Cartesian, and Platonic idealism; and homages to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Hong Kong action movies and Japanese animation.
