I just saw it last night...and I gotta say, I thought it was great.
More to the point though...I don't quite understand why it seems to be quite hated just about everywhere. Why does everyone hate it so? Most people don't seem to give a reason, just that it sucked.
I won't hate you if you didn't like it, everyone has their own opinion...I'm honestly just curious.

I thought it was an AMAZING movie, and Carrey was more than convincing in his role. He can be a serious actor, even if some people don't seem to think so. They just want him typecast all the time.

I don't agree with I'm a Dude's high level of praise for this movie. But I certainly didn't think it was bad. Not by any means.

I really liked the movie. I thought that even with its swerves, it all came back full circle and made sense, which is something that could have been easily overlooked/forgotten.

It was pretty good. Definatley one of the better horror movies produced lately. Jim Carrey is great.
I'd like to see Jim in a noir type movie. Those parts were by far my favorite parts of the movie

I went to go see it with my mate (used to post here as Serj), I loved it and he hated it. He just expected more comedy and less suspense... but Carrey did a great job in it.

He expected a lot of comedy in The Number 23? Even though it's Jim Carrey, it's still a bit odd the way it was advertised that he'd expect that. But yeah, Carrey was spectacular in it, and it was indeed a great movie, very well-directed.

I didn't mind Carrey in the film, thought he was the best part. That said, I hate the film because it's built around too many super-huge coincidences to get it started.

I see it as a three part act. The first two partss are good, but the final part, with the pay-off, isn't anything to write home about.
Carrey's performance is great, though.

I wonder how many people were turned off cause it wasnt some Carrey comedy stuff. Then again everyone knew (or shoulda knew) coming in it wasnt some comedy movie...

Didn't Joel Schumacher direct this movie? That could be why the target audience didn't go to see it in theaters.

My gf and I rented this about a month ago.
I thought Carrey did a decent job but we both felt this movie got a little too wrapped up in itself and its own cleverness/coincidences.
It could have been about 30 minutes shorter than it was.

I'm hesitant to see it, simply because I just don't buy Carrey as a dramatic actor. It's not that I WANT the comedy ... I just don't think he does drama well.
Jed Shaffer ~With the one role in Little Miss Sunshine, I thought Steve Carrell outshone every dramatic acting piece Carrey has done to date.

Carrey was fine in it - but everything else was pretty much a disaster.
I suppose if I have to give you a reason why I don't like it, I'll start with the big supposed ending "twist", which is just a step up from the "it was only a dream" deus ex machina.
