Both are supposed grunge front men that were huge in the 90's. Who was the better vocalist? BTW, this is Weiland pre-1996 or whenever he lost "the voice."

I vote for STP, mainly because "Interstate Love Song" was the song I listened to the most when I was growing up.

I'm not a big STP fan, but I'm a HUGE Velvet Revolver fan, so Weiland

Weiland was a better singer from a technical (or whatever) standpoint, but taley did have a very distinct sound.

I never really liked STP, sounded too manufactured.

I went Weiland on the vote. Not a fan of either STP or AIC and hated hated HATED all grunge.. BUT, I love VR, so that's what pulled it for me. The guy seems to have some demons chasing him, hope he's able to overcome them and not be one of the tragic stories that the other guy became.

Weiland's a great singer, but Stanley just stood out more. Not because he died, but because I just really like Alice In Chains.

let me get this out of the way before someone less nice does it. Layne STALEY...STALEY I really don't care, I just figured it would wind up leading to some fight down the road.

Lane had a great and unique sound that perfectly complemented Jerry Cantrell's voice. I love Weiland, but Lane got me vote.

Weiland. Staley was a moaning little fool. Wow, you think one of the most influential and copied voices of all time is a moaning little fool? *Just Walks Away* And for the thread starter, his name was STALEY. There is no N. And I picked him.

I love Alice In Chains & Stone Temple Pilots, so the tiebreaker goes to Staley because I still haven't completely forgiven Weiland for shamelessly ripping off Eddie Vedder for a few years.

I guess Weiland had a better voice.
STP kind of seemed like a corporate manufactured "grunge" band though, kinda lame. However, they did have a few good songs regardless I'll admit.
Chains were more of a metal band that got lumped in with grunge, probably due to the time period and where they were from. Facelift and Dirt were pretty good albums. I like them a whole lot more than STP.
