I'm not sure what the difference is, unless a lariat is juts more vicious than a clothesline.

Lariat is another name for a lasso and is referred to in wrestling when an attacking wrestler runs towards an opponent, wraps his arm around their upper chest and neck, and then forces them to the ground, very similarly to a clothesline, the difference being that in a clothesline the wrestler's arm is kept straight to the side of the wrestler during the move, while in the lariat the wrestler strikes their opponent with his arm.

From what I can tell a lariat is more of a clubbing with the upper arm.

lariat looks more of bicept strike, while clothesline looks more of a forearm strike

I always thought they were of the same moves just with different names at times.
Fun Fact: JBL's Clothesline from Hell was originally called The Lariet during his early career, and his run as the hardcore champion.

The best way I can describe a lariat is that it's a regular punch, but instead of your fist, you use your entire arm. And it just looks like it hurts more.

And I see a lot of people who do the lariat fall into it too(going down with the victim instead of staying on his feet). That makes it look way more impactfull

Lariats and clotheslines are the same. Well, they're the same in the sense that they're both nothing like the Russian Sickle!

For asking this question, you have brought the wrath of Kobashi down on your family. I'll pray for you.
Yeah basically a lariat is a stiffer clothesline, usually with the person attacking.

Yeah, a lariat is meant to indicate that the attacking participant is clubbing with his arm, running forward, swinging back, and unleashing the blow to the neck/upper chest.
Clothesline implies, well, a clothesline: stationary, straight.

My favorite part of that video is the part where it looks like Hansen is about to put some dude in a Boston Crab, sees another guy running towards him, stands up, gives that guy a lariat-OOOOOOOOOOOOO, then goes right back to what he was doing.

I just associate a Lariat with Stan Hansen. Everyone else uses a clothesline.
Frankly the moves are fairly similar. it's like comparing a scoop slam with a body slam.
