This has been bugging me for some time. Who is the Umaga rip-off in this video along side Larry Sweeney? youtube.com/watch?v=bBm75tpLyl4He's at the end, after a tremendous promo by Sweet n' Sour. Apparently, if I want the Texarkana Title, I have to go through both of them ... however, I haven't seen this fellow with Sweeney anywhere but in this promo.

That's Mana, and he's actually been on the indy scene for quite a while before Umaga debuted

...i think. I think i've seen him on a couple JAPW videos, and he uses a double underhook piledriver called the "Polynesian Plunge". So yeah, Samoan....i think.

Sweeney dropped him like a bad habit a while back. And Umaga is the Mana rip-off, since Mana was first. Eh, they're both Headshrinker rip-offs, though.

He's Mana, the Polynesian Warrior. Sweeney dropped him like a bad habit a while back. Good thing for Sweeney. The thing is, that clip was the first time I had ever seen Larry Sweeney, being WWE Born and Bred. Someone on this board was going on about how awesome this guy was. Actually, it was kind of like this, WrestleCrapper - 'You have to check this guy out, he's totally sweet. And tight. He is also awesome.' Me - 'Okay.' *watches video* Me - ' ... that was really good. Except for that idiot with the face tattoos at the end.' Seriously, that was the first thing of CHIKARA that I had seen, and if I wasn't so open minded, it probably would have been the last because of that Mana character. He looks pretty dreadful. Screaming and sticking your tongue out doesn't make you a savage. Somehow, I feel like real savages are a bit more interesting than that.

Eh, they're both Headshrinker rip-offs, though. Same family, too. Mana was doing the bit since 2003. He did it in WSX, Jersey All-Pro, World-1, and other promotions. WSX, of course, is owned and run by the An'Aoi family (Wild Samoans, Headshrinkers, etc.). Mana basically went in barefoot and painted his face and acted a bit wild, but the indy T-shirt thing kinda worked against him. He was a decent worker and had some good matches. Once the Umaga gimmick came onto the scene, Mana was frustrated. There is reported heat between he and his relatives in the An'Aoi family, and I think there was some kind of mini promotional war between WSX and Mana's fledgling fed (whose name escapes me) and for the last year and a half Mana has claimed he was leaving the U. S. and heading back to Samoa, and that he was done with the business. Mana was Umaga before Umage, but frankly, Umaga is the better worker. Mana just didn't have the gimmick perfeted and ready and presented to the WWE. The indies are filled with hundreds of guys with similar stories.

I've always wondered if Joey Ryan and Larry Sweeney ever tagged Man, they missed the boat with that one for the trios.

Mana has been around long before Umaga's name was ever uttered.
