It's Time For Every Tag Team In The World To Man Up

When Jay and Mark Briscoe made their return to ROH after an almost two year absence last February they made it clear that they had grown up and were serious about their wrestling careers. Despite a great year, things didn't quite go as planned.
The Briscoes fought then ROH World Tag Team Champions Austin Aries & Roderick Strong in three excellent title matches, including a match of the year candidate at "Unified" in Liverpool. However, each time the Briscoes fell short in their quest to win the belts.
Jay and Mark did provide ROH fans with many memorable matches and moments including bouts vs. Homicide & Samoa Joe, Jack Evans & Roderick Strong, Davey Richards & Matt Sydal, Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli, KENTA & Naomichi Marufuji and others. The Briscoes didn't concentrate solely on tag action as they each had numerous singles matches throughout the year.
"We ain't gonna let ourselves get distracted by singles matches in 2007," Jay Briscoe said. "My brother and I are fixin' to tag on every show. 2007 is gonna see us bigger, badder and more aggressive. When the Fifth Year Festival comes around we will be back in ROH for one year. It's long past time for us to get those ROH straps around our waists."
"I can't wait for the first shows of the year," Mark Briscoe said. "It's gonna be time for us to man up and defeat the ghosts of our past. Boston and Edison is gonna see me and my brother even crazier and ready to fight."
The Briscoes will be faced by two major obstacles from their past when ROH returns to action on 1/26 in Braintree, MA and 1/27 in Edison, NJ. The first show of 2007 in Braintree will see the Briscoes attempt to finally defeat Aries & Strong, but this time it will be in a 2/3 Falls Match. The next night will see Jay & Mark fight the men that they were headed into a major feud with in 2004 before a motorcycle accident knocked Mark out of action. New Jersey will see Mark & Jay Briscoe vs. Rocky Romero & Ricky Reyes. These matches will set the tone for the Briscoes in 2007. If Jay & Mark can defeat these two teams they will have momentum behind them as they shoot for the ROH World Tag Team Titles currently held by Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal with Allison Danger.
Late 2006 saw the Briscoes pick up momentum by winning the FIP Tag Team Titles from The Heartbreak Express. Before the first ROH shows of 2007, Jay & Mark will head to Japan for their first tour of Pro Wrestling NOAH as part of the ROH/NOAH talent exchange relationship. The Briscoes, who impressed NOAH officials including Mr. Misawa with their matches against KENTA & Marufuji, will have an immediate chance to make an impact. They will challenge Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Takashi Sugiura for the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Titles on January 7th.
