Is there another type of fan?

My whole journey (if you can call it that) as a wrestling fan started with watching it with my grandfather. To this day, we still watch wrestling together but it's somewhat lost it's magic.

Between my smarkdom and my grandfather's lines of "Now he's going to elbow out," you fail to see what was once there.

But recently I discovered something about my grandfather... He's neither a mark nor a smark and yet he's both. He buys into the hype of Batista, Cena, and some of the other hosses. Yet, and here's the kicker, recently he told me that he hates "punching" and wants to see actually wrestling. I had never known that he appreciated such matches before so it was great watching my new Bret Hart DVD matches of Ricky Steamboat and The British Bulldog with new eyes.

I don't know what I'm trying to say but I thought something would enjoy this.

Every fan, smark or mark, understands the inherent concepts of being a champion or performing at a main event level. I could see why he is drawn into these guys, as that is where the marketing machine concentrates its time. The issue at hand is the other 1:30 minutes that need to be filled. Most people want to see quality action during this time.

So yeah, you can be both I guess.

It was. And you can see it on the DVD. Or maybe Youtube has it...
