en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Invasion_%28pro_wrestling%29In the real life Invasion, one of the criticisims was that the big guns of WCW were not involved. Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Goldberg and Scott Steiner were eventually signed later. (to fantasy land) It is 2001 and WCW has been bought by WWF. There are plans for a WWF/WCW storyline, but you wait until those contracts run out to sign those men and get it started. The objective is to find a way to build the tension between the WWF and WCW wrestlers and introduce the new acqusitions into the fold to start the Invasion. ECW, who was also bought, can be used.

Its simple. Bring them in SLOWLY.
Disrupting hot matches and drawing heat from performers and fans alike.
Have them come in one at a time so you didnt know who the hell was going to come in next.
Have ECW join on WCW's side..once all the outside talent is brought in (this might take 6 months) have a big PPV where all the current WWE stars who used to be on those rosters turned and cost WWE the victory. Then set up a civil war where the WCW/ECW faction takes over Smackdown...but WWe.against all odds..successfully defends RAW.
Now you have two seperate entity who every so often might fire a shot at the other one just to keep the fans on their toes.

Im going to go in a different direction.
WWF and WCW wrestlers feud and wrestlers from both feds get over, helping WCW's cred. However, the first shot is fired when Scott Steiner is signed. The last WCW champ is riling up WCW wrestlers telling them to take whats theirs and the Invasion begins. Royal Rumble 2002 helps the storyline out with returns from Triple H and the debut of Goldberg.
No Way Out 2002 has a main event of current undisputed champ Chris Jericho and Goldberg. Before the match, Steiner gives Goldberg a talk of which he says that they may have been enemies in WCW, they want the same thing and that is the WCW belt back on a WCW guy. Goldberg dominates the match and hits his spear and jackhammer. As he goes for the pin, Scott Steiner makes his way down and breaks it up. A confused Goldberg looks at Steiner and hears N...W...O from the loud speakers. Steiner attacks Goldberg and new signings Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall come down to help Steiner. Hogan then gets on the mic and says that they aren't here for WCW or for WWF. They want to conquor WWF like they did WCW.
From there you can go two ways. WWF and WCW wrestlers form as one to take on the nWo or WWF and WCW can still feud and nWo is a wild card in this feud, screwing one or both factions. Also guys like Triple H, Big Show and/or Shawn Michaels can be members to give them that old nWo/Kliq feel to it.

Aw, I was hoping you meant Alternate Invasion as in WCW buying the WWF. In which case the first shot is fired by Funaki and the most famous jumper is Savio Vega.

Instead of an InVasion, why not have the WCW stars be apart of WWF first, make them each do interviews stating that they didn't come to destroy the WWF, but instead want to join regardless of what Shane said, similar to what the nWo did back in 2002, and make them do backstage skits trying to talk and get along with the WWF stars, only to be ignored. And then later, a poll starts for fans to vote, should WCW be allowed to become apart of the WWF? Then they come to compromise where WCW gets the second hour to both shows, and it becomes WWF/WCW Raw/Nitro and Smackdown!/Thunder.

Alex Wright runs roughshod over everyone on his debut night, sitting in a steel folding chair in the middle of the ring waiting for people to challenge him. McMahon comes out all greased up and ready to go, but Das Wunderkind (with full beautiful head of hair circa 96) makes him put the company on the line in their match. Alex beats him by pulling the trousers and acquires the WWF legally. He then agrees to let Vince still run things, but accepts millions of dollars in income from owning the company, retiring to a life of luxury his native Germany.

I think for at least the first shots fired, you really needed to have something absolutely batshit insane happen. Have something huge like a high-profile title match to bring in viewers. Seeing as Austin was the champ going into the month of April, I would have had him successfully defend the title against one of the other prominent WWE players such as Angle (who he would end up having several matches with later that year). And then out comes Goldberg...Spear, Jackhammer, the dream match everyone wanted to see throughout the course of the late nineties a reality.
But what was the first blow of the Invasion? Lance Storm attacking Perry Saturn. Uhm, yeah.

This is an idea I toyed with for a bit. Details are still sketchy so bare with me.
After Shane bought out WCW from under his father's nose I would have gone with the storyline of Vince using his connections to make sure Shane can't get a TV deal or even book a house show for that matter. Shane acknowledges this and swears he'll get even. Soon after Lance Storm and Mike Awesomes attacks happen expect Lance attacks Chris Jericho and while Mike Awesome still beats not Rhyno but Kane for the Hardcore belt he then destroys it.
This sets up the fateful match between Jericho/Kane Vs Storm/Awesome. Rob Van Dam and Tommy Dreamer run in like they did in the original match and then of course a bunch of WWF guys who happen to be ECW alums run in and then turn on Jericho and Kane and then Paul Heyman steps into the ring and makes the announcement that ECW is back and they're invading but this time it's not just for one night only.
The war goes on for about as long as the original invasion and this time the invaders are made to look like a genuine threat with guys like RVD, Raven, Rhyno, Taz and Tommy Dreamer being threated like main eventers. I also would have avoided turning the entire WWE face as I'd also keep running WWF Vs WWF fueds so as not to burn the fans out on WWF Vs ECW and I could see potiential in heel champ Steve Austin trying to exploiting his ECW ties to get ECW to help keep the title on him.
Team WWF defeats Team ECW at Survivour Series to end the war and for and most of the ECW guys get intergrated into the regular roster. Over the course of the Invasion former WCW guys get slowly added to the roster and for a good reason. Not long after the ECW Invasion end Shane McMahon returns and reveals that he and Heyman had formed and alliance and that the ECW invasion was designed to distract Vince and weaken the WWF while Shane readied the second wave.
WWF now find themselves being attacked from the inside by the ECW invaders and the WCW stars who had quietly made thier way across enemy lines as well as those who's contracts had since expired and were now free to wokr for Vince. This fued doesn't go on for long (but long enough to get some dream matches in) as Linda steps in and uses her power to turn Smackdown over to the Alliance in an effort to stop the chaos. Shane renames it Nitro the brand extention begins. Storyline focus then changes to Shane and Vince trying to outdo each other while Shane deals with Heyman trying to oust him from top spot.
