Like many on here claim, why did the Rumble only get a 16 000 arena? Sure they sold it out but that's what your average RAW used to get. Actually more like 20 000 a few years ago. This is one of the big four. Arguably the second biggest PPV of the year. It used to get 40 000 to 50 000 sell outs.
I'm interested in hearing any WWE apologists' lame excuses.

Because they dont sell seats behind the set/screen like they use to.
They killed off most of the "limited view" seating.

Because the quality of the product has declined due to Vince's egotistical ways. Sorry to tell the truth.

Because the WWE decided to only book a 16,000 seat arena. They have to take into consideration previous commitments to sports, musicians or whatever.
Also with the exception of WrestleMania, there are not too many people who would be willing to shill out 400 bucks for a front row/floor seat, when a 100 dollar ticket with a decent view will suffice.

RAW/SD never averaged 20,000+ people. '00 Raw was infront of 17,000, arguably when WWE was most popular, soooo.. what are you talking about?

Well Hulk Hogan did claim that the Pontiac Silverdome held 50,000,000 people that night when he faced Andre. But then again, it really did have that many people so he was right.

Because most of the arenas in the United States barely seat 20,000. Take out a couple thousand for the entrance set and ramp. There's your answer.

This is one of the big four. Arguably the second biggest PPV of the year. It used to get 40 000 to 50 000 sell outs. The only time the Royal Rumble has ever been in an arena that seats more than 40,000 was in 1997 at the Alamodome. So your claim has no legs.

Yeah, I can vouch for them getting rid of the "Obstructed View" seats. Back in 2000 or so, me and my cousins went to Raw and got some cheap seats that were partially behind the TitanTron. You could see the ring fine, but you could not see anything in the upper half of the entrance ramp. You wouldn't think that is such a big deal, but I was surprised how many promos take place at the top of the ramp.

No need for lame excuses. The event sells out every year! I want you to name for me the Royal Rumble that was held in an arena that had 40-50 000 capacity? I want names and dates. Very, very very few arenas hold more than 17 000 people and when WWE has a Raw or a PPV at those they sell them out. Fact is the arena had 16 000 capacity and they sold it out. WHich is oh about 15 500 more than the number 2 wrestling organization draws. End of argument. Stick around in 2 months they'll draw 70 000 for Wrestlemania and you and your little mind will claim they used to draw 1 million to that event.

WWE is going out of business next week right? Besides, when was the last time someone defended the WWE's arena attendence??? Hell, you're probably the first one to bash it in quite a while. But in all honestly, since you seem to take pleasure in the fact that the WWE's boom period ended years ago, you should at least get the facts straight. Past Royal Rumbles holding 40-50,000 people? Ha! Besides, there simply isn't that many arenas in the USA that can hold that many people. Why should you leave out parts of your fanbase from enjoying a live PPV? You give WWE an arena that can hold 40-50,000 people in a major PPV, and they will sell it out every time.

I would seriously like ONE instance of an actual, contributing member of this board saying WWE is "doing as well as it ever has". That's just crazy talk. Is "crazy" the word I want there? "f***stain"? Ok, thanks...

Theres a lot you can bash the wwe but their ability to sell out an arena is not one of them.
