It's still pretty early in the build-up and I may be in the minority...but I gotta say, I LOVE the slow build-up to Taker vs. Batista.
Say what you want about the potential of the actual match, but if WWE does this angle right they can overshadow the possibility that the match won't be so great.
In the last two weeks, Batista and Undertaker have started to come into contact with each other because of Mr. Kenndy. But what I love about the angle so far is that they haven't actually ACKNOWLEDGED each other yet. Hell, in the last two weeks its been so subtle, they haven't even so much as LOOKED at each other. Last week when Batista cost Taker the match, Undertaker stood in the ring looking at him with Batista looking off at Kennedy. And this week when Taker accidentaly kicked Batista, the roles were reversed and Taker didn't look at Batista. BRILLIANT pyschology.
I can't wait to see where they go with this. Good build-up so far.

I like how they haven't even spoken yet, they just keep getting in one another's business by accident, then eye the other guy in mild annoyance.

I dont like that they are starting it before the rumble. It makes it obvious Taker is going to win the Rumble or find his way into the Mania main event

Pretty good buildup, but the match itself is probably gonna suck. Still, at least they got half the equation right.

I dont like that they are starting it before the rumble. It makes it obvious Taker is going to win the Rumble or find his way into the Mania main event Well it's simple. If he wins the rumble he finds his way into the mania main event. If he doesn't win the rumble he finds his way into the mania main event. That's usually how it works, but I'm still believing HBK will win. I don't know why but HBK seemed the one more vulnerable and therefore the dark horse to pull out a victory. (cause he was beaten senseless etc. whereas Taker just ran over everybody)

If you recall, there were actually a lot of people looking forward to Batista/Mark Henry last year after ol' Dave came back. So much so, that we were actually disappointed when Henry was injured. My point being, if we can get excited over Batista/Henry, we should be able to get excited over Batista/Undertaker, provided things are done correctly.
And on another note, who was Henry's replacement? Why, Kennedy....................Kennedy.

Sometimes I feel like WWE makes everything crap the rest of the year so Wrestlemania feuds look so good by comparison. This time of the year shows that WWE does know what to do when they need to, so it kinda sucks that they don't do it more often.

It seems like the period from a few weeks before the Rumble up to an including Wrestlemania are generally head and shoulders above the rest of the year in terms of well-booked feuds. For the rest of the time, they just coast.

Am I the only one who is optimistic that Taker vs Batista would actually be a good match? I mean it won't be HBK vs Angle, but the crowd and the buildup should be great, and the match can be quite good by WWE standards. I, for one, am looking forward to it and have been wanting to see this match for quite some time

I have to agree with the slow burn of Taker/Batista.
One thing you can always say about WWE, when they WANT TO, they can build up a feud better than anyone else. Remember Triple H/Batista a couple years ago? That was about six months in the making.

I rekon 'Taker could definitely carry Batista to a good match.

Im glad they started it before the Rumble, because if 'Taker does win, obviously he's gonna go after Batista & we know whats coming, right now its kinda like we dont definitely know what will happen, so it makes it better.

I watched Rumble 2003 a few days ago, the final four were Taker, Lesnar, Kane, Batista. When they went into little battles, it was Lesnar vs. Kane and Taker vs. Batista. They know each other exists, hell Taker eliminated Batista, and batista came back in wielding a steel chair, which taker ended up taking easily and slamming big Dave in the head with it. Not a lotta people know or remember this, but this was the slow build to the Mania 23 main event, its only 4 years in the making. (yeah i know i'm a jackass)

The slooooooow build for Taker/Batista has been brilliant so far. I would hate to see a feud with a "big match" potential such as this be wasted with only a few weeks build.

The average fan will be like "Oh I didnt notice that" when they show a video package of the feud origins. (Maybe!)
