Right now Lashley is in the spot of the top Face and Test is in the spot of the top Heel. I'm basing this on the fact that they are main eventing, they are the ones mentioned in the advertisements, etc. Basically this is the main rivalry on the show right now, and I am one of the people who doesn't think either man should be main eventing ECW. I just don't think they have the personality, charisma, and connection with the fans that is needed of the top guy. Even Cena has a connection with the crowd... I'm not even a Cena fan but I don't doubt that he is over.
I think that the top two babyfaces right now should be RVD and CM Punk. RVD has always kind of gone hand-in-hand with ECW. People see him, and many are reminded of the greatness that ECW was once upon a time. Plus, he has had prominent roles on both Raw and SmackDown. So he is very much a marquee name. CM Punk is a completely new guy (in the WWE realm anyway), and so he is only associated with ECW... not Raw or SmackDown. People see him and they see ECW. Plus, he is very popular with the fans. The fans decided that they like him for whatever reason, and he is a draw.
As for heels, I think Kevin Thorn should be getting pushed as a top heel. I chose Thorn because much like CM Punk, people only associate him with ECW (his Smackdown stint was forgettable, and most casual fans dont know he even was on SmackDown). Plus he has a gimmick, and so some potentially interesting stories could be written for the world title based on it. Like Thorn could play mind games with Punk by biting Kelly and making her a vampire or something (OK bad idea, but you get the point -- the main show's storyline could be something more colorful than 'Test is mad, RAAAARR')
I think Hardcore Holly is a good heel, but he is a perennial midcarder. And that's not a bad thing either... every show needs a solid midcard. It's just that he has never won a top title in WWE and I can't picture him suddenly winning one.

Test or Lashley shouldn't even be main eventing a flea market indy gathering.

They pretty much brought it back with the intention of RVD and Kurt Angle leading the brand, and we see how that's gone.

I feel that Dreamer or Sandman should be main eventing...
Maybe even Sabu.
It's too early for Punk.
But Lashley should have never won the title because it makes ECW look at a midcard show.

Top faces= CM Punk and Sabu led by Tommy Dreamer.
Top Heels= Rob Van Dam and Lashley led by Paul Heyman.

last time i saw a commercial for an ECW/Smackdown supershow, the only ECW wrestlers mentioned were Lashley and CM Punk
and Punk is not contending for the title, WHY, exactly?
all i can really lend to the conversation is the LAST person that should be leading ECW is Test. his entire push is comprised of ripping off old ECW gimmicks. "Impact Player" my ass.

"Impact Player" my ass. I agree. When I think Extreme I do not think Test, unless the Summer X Games just got an extremely sagging nipples competition, or an extreme bacne competition. The problem is that WWE doesn't seem to want to build up people (which is bad if they plan to turn ECW into a developmental territory on national TV), and rely on people they already built up, or people who "at 14 years in the business are bigger stars than anyone else in the brand (even if both his arms don't work right and he still has trouble stemming from the MSRA bout)" Basically the point I'm trying to make is, right now guys like Sandman and Dreamer should be leading ECW, and then helping put over the younger talent like Terry Funk did for the guys in the original ECW.

If I had my way, it would have been Chris Beniot who would've jumped over and won the ECW Title.
Top Faces: Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, Punk, Lashley (Perhaps in that order) (That is right, no RVD or Sabu...)
Top Heels: Test, Holly, Burke, Marquis Cor Van (Perhaps in that order again...)
Dreamer's whole "Get back up" gimmick keeps getting hurt due to real life problems. He was mauled by Big Show for two weeks, then RVD gets busted and Show goes to the title scene. I wish they would have gave that feud closing by having Dreamer face Show in an Extreme match for the title. Anyway, then Dreamer feuds with Khali...only for Khali to be moved to Raw following Triple H's injury. On his way out, Khali squashs Tommy. Dang.
Moving on, Dreamer could feud with the newest ECW prospect, Cor Van. Tommy could make the Pounce look like death. Since Tommy normally puts people over, the feud could help Marquis move into the title hunt.
Holly/Punk should still be going, but Holly is hurt.
Test/Lashley is decent enough, but I'd prefer Sandman to have the title (he is over with the crowd).
Sandman/Burke most likely won't last that long. Kind of like the Sandman/Striker feud that ended with Sandman made Striker bleed (Really, it just stopped...)
I still wished that they hadn't fired Tony Mamaluke so that there could have been a FBI/Thorn feud.

Test has been bad ass in his return, people overlook him actaully trying hard in the ring, because he's well Test.
but he's worked hard on his game, and his matches are way better than they were 4 years ago.
With Angle leaving and RVD basically saying "F-U" vince with his drug charges...eh..ECW was only left with a midcard
"FBI/Thorne fued"
IS this gonna involve GARLIC?
Dreamer has always been the guy who puts people over, he was ECW's perrenial loser who always fought on no matter what.
Sandman is too broken down to be doing weekly matches, him coming out and caning people is just good enough for me.
I think ECW could make it once they bring more people up, trade people, and get it going.
it took a long time for SD/RAw to get it together when the brand split first happened.

I think Sandman could (and should!) carry ECW for a while. The beer-swillin', cigarette-smokin' bastard. Heel or face, give him the belt and let him stagger with it.
Make every ECW title match an "Extreme Rules" match. It only makes sense.

Who'd I'd have leading ECW right now?
Faces: RVD, Sabu, and Lashley (You can't deny that he's over. I don't mind him, just don't have him as champion).
Heels: A newly turned CM Punk in straight edge better than you mode, Elijah Burke, Monty Brown and Test (Again, just not as a main contender.)
People like that would give the show a different vibe than Raw and Smackdown, which is what people were hoping for in the first place.

"FBI/Thorne fued" IS this gonna involve GARLIC? My ideas consisted of: --Thorne is confronted for his "Kiss of Death" finisher because "Only The Godfather does a kiss of death!" --Thorne tells Guido that "You won't be Full blooded for long." --Thorne sniffs and refers to Trinity as "Hot blooded" causing a mini-feud between Trinity and a jealous Ariel --Little Guido makes a cross with his fingers and back Thorne into a corner. I've got others, but those are the ones I like.

I'd rather see Van Dam as a heel, personally. He's been a stale face for damn near five straight years. Let him be an arrogant dick that's out for himself (without resorting to cheating to win). This gerneric good guy act just doesn't suit him, and he damn sure can't cut face promos.

I'm glad they're not hotshotting CM Punk to the title, its a bad idea. Sandman being the main player would also be bad. I'd go with the obvious RVD and a heel Lashley managed by Heyman would've worked perfectly.
Test is also underated.
