So I got tired of the entire WWE brand and completely quit watching about 2 months or so back. I was just wondering what all the fuss is about the December to Dismember PPV. Was it horrible just because of bad matches or did something further happen? I'm sure this has been thoroughly discussed, but as I said, I've been on a sabbatical so if someone could just fill me in, that'd be great.

Bad matches + Bad booking = one of the worst PPV's ever!!
The good:
The Hardy Boys vs MNM - They were given 20+ minutes and put on a very good PPV worthy tag match
The bad:
The PPV ended at 10:20 pm
Besides MNM/Hardys and The Elimination Chamber, the rest of the matches would have been barely passable on ECW on Sci Fi (FBI vs Terkay/Burke, Daivari/Dreamer etc....
Sabu was replaced in the Elimination Chamber by Hardcore Holly
The EC itself was booked horrible, and it was rushed.
Please feel free to buy/rent the PPV for yourself if you want to see how bad it really was because words don't do it justice.

Basically, only two matches where announced before the PPV. These where MNM vs the Hardyz (which i've heard was ok) and the extreme elimination chamber featuring Test, Big Show, RVD, Lashley, Sabu and CM Punk.
The rest where filler matches which we see every week on tv and sucked anyway.
Sabu was apparantly "attacked backstage" so he was taken out of the chamber and replaced with Hardcore Holly.
And Lashley won the ECW title.

Horrible booking, bait and switch in the MAIN EVENT, horrible matches, and one bright spot which was the 20 minute opener. And then after getting $40 from you, the show eneded after 2 hours and 20 minutes.

They went into the show with only 2 matches actually announced. The Extreme Elimination Chamber, and Hardys vs. MNM.
So your going in not even knowing what the other matches would be.
The matches that were there werent really bad, they werent great, but they were fine. Its just there was no build, and no real reason for any of the matches besides Dreamer vs. Daivari as they had been feuding a little bit before the PPV.

I was there live and can give you a pretty good idea.
1 - Sabu being "injured" backstage so Holly could take his spot. Fans IMMEDIATELY sensed a screwjob and chanted "BULLS***". This was done (In McMahon logic), along with eliminating Punk and RVD early on to get all the other fan favorites out of the way to force the crowd to cheer for Lashley. Didn't work, and we got behind Big Show instead.
2 - Only 2 matches were advertised, and the other booked matches (Snow/Head vs Burke/Terkay and Holly vs Sandman, as confirmed by the event shirt) did not even happen. Sandman, a huge ECW star who was on the poster, was limited to a pointless run in, not even a match.
3 - Terrible matches. Do not put Balls Mahoney in an "Extreme Enforcement Of The Rules" Match. Do not job Tommy Dreamer to DAVARI after a ROLL UP! Knox/Kelly vs Thorn/Ariel was an ABORTION with 8 legs, the ONLY thing the crowd popped for was Ariel's hot ass. Etc etc.
4 - PPV ended way early around 10:10. Everyone felt cheated.
5 - The live atmosphere was s****y since it was a painfully WWEized event. In contrast to ONS, security was in full force taking signs, there were "BULLS***" and "TNA" chants during certain moments of the show.
