I was just thinking that although he's still over i really think they should maybe try a new direction with him to see if it sticks...the reason he didnt get over during the invasion is he was still the same RVD everybody marked for in ECW and he didnt really do anything heelish.
The way id turn him is to adopt a new look...if anyone has watched jean claude van damme in ' Replicant '...thats the sort of image i think he shud adopt...jean claude looked such a badass in that movie and RVD could pull off the look..just cut the hair a little..and lose the pony-tail (im not sure how 2 post pics otherwise id show you)
Id stop the thumb taunts and maybe change his attire a little..either give him darker colours or maybe give him shelton benjamin-esque shorts. then just have him target the most over faces in the company...
The way they got fans back in2 cena was have him face people you cdnt possibly chher for and it worked to a degree...so you could basically do the opposite to turn someone heel..
Do you think RVD should turn heel..and if you do what direction would you take?

I remember they tried making RVD heel in 01 but he became the most over guy in the Alliance(topping Austin!)and was cheered over Chris Jericho and The Rock.I actually thought he was going to win the WWF Title at No Mercy...alas he didn't and ended up jobbing to Austin and faded to the midcard for the next 4 and half years

I wouldn't cut his hair. Since it seem most new heel turns do that. Plus RVD could still have it and work as a heel. What he could do is come out. With an attitude and not pay attention to the fans.
The look I give him is sunglasses. Change his attire were they have less of the fansy airbush designs. Have them more of a darkside look. Like a Black with like RVD's dragon with fire. He could to from shorts to pants on his lower. He could were like like leather jacket to the ring.
His promos would be more intence and more heelish. He could be like I'll use CM Punk for an example. He could say something like:
"You know, everyone wants to know why I did what I did to CM Punk last week. Well it's real simple why. I sick and tire of hearing all about CM Punk and how great he is. Well everyone knows that I am the real deal around here. The difference now is that unlike you CM Punk. I don't give a damn with these fans think of me. I will make an example out of you Punk. After I get done with you. Were going to see who is talking about who. But soon enough, everyone will show Rob Van Dam, the respect that I deserve. From this point on, the only I'm worrying about is RVD. For years I've done with these fans want. Now it's time for RVD to do what he wants."

Have him cut an I'm going to TNA worked shoot and how crap of a promotion the new ECW is. The ECW originals are washed up and the new guys simply don't cut it. Nobody is the star RVD is. Down comes Vince McMahon and he cuts a promo on Van Dam. Vince ends his spiel with his famous quote "You're..... FFFF-Forgiven!" Vince goes on about a young talent who won the WWe World title and carried his corporation. But he let his young champion take a couple gigs in Hollywood and now he's lost him for good. Vince says he isn't perfect and he makes mistakes but he doesn't make the same mistake twice. Vince offers to make RVD his corporate champion and will make certain that he will have the ECW championship and will be recognized for being the great star that he is. Vince organizes a new stable called the ECW Corporation lead by none other than Eric Bischoff.

Have Shane McMahon return, side with RVD. With both on the same team in a tag team match, Shane gets RVD to help set up an opponent for the Van Terminator. As Shane leaps from the top rope, RVD clocks him with the chair, payback for stealing his move.
Then again that would probably get cheered.
