Anyone remember how back in the 90's when WCW and WWF would pass through various towns/cities with two prominant venues, WCW would always go to one while the WWF would always stick with the other? I remember when living in Chicago the WWF was keen on the Rosemont Horizon (and whatever it became after the United Center opened), while WCW would hold shows at the United Center once it opened. Then when I moved to Southern California, WCW always ran shows at the Cox Arena while the WWF ran shows at the San Diego Sports Arena. Even after so many years since WCW went belly-up, WWE still hasn't ran a single show at the Cox Arena and always runs their shows at the SDSA (now known as the "iPayOne Center").
Does this happen elsewhere, where WWE seems to blatantly avoid former WCW venues?

I'm taking a stab in the dark since I don't know all about WWE business practices but I figure its not blacklisting WCW venues but that fact they have good standing relationships with the venues they always go to so why screw it up. But that's just my 2 cents.

Yeah, there is little reason for them to change if they get along with the current venue, and they are similar in quality/size.

WWE puts shows on at the Nassau Coliseum, and they were a former WCW venue (in fact, the only WCW venue near NYC and Northern NJ that was around). I think it's a matter of working relationships with venues they worked well with, plus booking fees and such.

It is good relationships with the owners and management of arena, familiarity with the security and lay out of the arena, fans come to know which arena that you are going to and, on occasion WCW and WWE signed exclusive deals with some arenas in cities where both toured forcing the other to go to the other arena and sign a similar deal with them.

Which place did you like better when they were doing both?

Here in the SF Bay Area, WCW would run shows at the Oakland Arena while WWE would run shows at the San Jose Arena. Ever since WCW closed, WWE stills runs shows at San Jose and they have never been to Oakland. However, in the Smackdown games, JR always says something to the effect of "We're coming to you from Oakland, California".

although I know most of these arenas don't run TV/PPVs, but Kalamazoo, Michigan (Wings Stadium) held WWF shows (and at least 1 tv taping) from the early-mid 90s, then WCW ran house shows in the late 90s, now WWE does a house show there about every year. I know the Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek did an ECW house show recently and had done some WCW tv stuff. But then again, these mid sized towns don't have oodles of arenas.

WWE runs out of AllState Arena in Chicago which used to be Rosemont Horizon. I really wish they would jump over to the United Centre. They ran SummerSlam 94 from there, may have been the 1st event ever at the United Centre, but than went back to AllState Arena. Not sure what the story was. More seats at United Centre.

Here in WV, WCW always used to come to the Charleston Civic Center, while WWF would come to the Huntington Civic Center.
Interestingly enough, now the Smackdown shows are held in Charelston, while the Raw shows are in Huntington. Weird.

I still ask myself that question. Why doesn't WWE use the United Center anymore, If I was Vinnie Mac, I would hold events in any venue and EVERY arena across the US, Canada, etc. and While you are at it, Bring The WWE Back to the Palace of Auburn Hills as well, There is Nothing wrong with the Joe Louis Arena or Rosemont Horizon, but we would like some shows at the United Center, and the Palace of Auburn Hills when you come to Chicago and Detroit please.
