I loved that part. And it makes sense that he squashed Cassidy Riley. I mean, if he going to squash somebody, why not squash a guy that's accustomed to Monty's offense? Also notice the referee almost screwed up the Pounce by getting in the way. Awesome new sig! Good work with getting that screen capture. And yeah, I know that Riley has already taken a Pounce or two (or 17) in his day, so him and Monty had good chemistry. Funny... Cassidy Riley - the jobber who got squashed in this match - was allowed to use HIS name from TNA! Coincidence? Yeah, but nobody cares about Cassidy Riley.

Forgive me if it's been said, but was anyone else afraid he was going to pee in the ring after he claimed he was here to mark his territory?
What a gimmick!
He pees on guys after he beats them!
Take THAT, Boogeyman!

Good debut. Squashed a jobber, delivered a good promo, great improvisation at the crowd reactions. But just a very stupid name. I hope he ends up just using his nickname 'The Alpha Male' as his full name, same way that Davey Boy is better known as The British Bulldog.

Considering how well Riley sold the Pounce, I can't wait to see Monty face Little Guido. He actually made the fuggin' 619 look good.

The only gripe I had was not the theme music, and it wasn't even the name change. I mean, I do think Monty Brown is a much catchier name, but I can at least understand why WWE changed it and it's nothing new.
My gripe is how the announcers were completely playing dumb about him. I'm sure they were instructed to play dumb by Vince. For them to have no earthly clue who Monty Brown is implies three things: 1) TNA does not exist 2) The NFL does not exist 3) Styles and Tazz do not read WWE.com since they announced when Brown was signed.
I can see why they wouldn't mention TNA by name, but there is no reason they couldn't have just made a general comment about the fact that he has wrestled before. Likewise the NFL is not in any way a competitor, so to no-sell his NFL background is really dumb.
They could have said this: Tazz: "Well Joey, what can you tell me about this Marquis Cor Von? What do you know about him?" Joey: "He is a former NFL player who competed a few years ago. Likewise, he has some wrestling experience under his belt as well. He has competed for championships in other wrestling promotions in the past, and now he's here to step up to the plate in ECW to show the world what he's capable of."
Would that have been so bad?

If they mention that Marquis Cor Von played in the NFL, people would look it up on the net to see if its true, who he played for and, things like that. They would then find out his real name is Monty Brown and that he wrestled for TNA. So indirectly, that leads to people finding out about TNA. Or something like that.

That may be true, but I seriously hope WWE would not look that deeply into shielding TNA from its viewers. Which again I think is insulting to our intelligence, because I would wager that a good 75% of WWE's current viewers already know what TNA is. I am not saying that 75% of WWE viewers watch or even like TNA... but they know what it is. It does have a prime time TV show on a nationally carried cable channel. And I'm not doubting what you are saying, because I sadly think it is probably true. I just feel a bit insulted by it..... especially since 10 years ago Joey Styles was an announcer who insulted the viewers the absolute least in my opinion. (I realize it's no longer 10 years ago, I'm just saying....)
