People have said that people pushed Cena and Lesnar WAYYY too fast way too much and it made them dislike them for it.
Could someone explain the forcing to me? I understand pushing too fast too soon (I hate that) but I don't understand how Cena is being forced on me or whatever.
Has this happened in the attitude or Rock n roll era either? (Talent being forced on us)
I don't even understand waht that means

Think of the Rock's original "Blue Chipper" run before he joined the Nation of Domination. The announcers constantly talked about him and basically beat fans over the head trying to get people to like him, and shoved him down the fans throats so much that they collectively vomited all over him. I think that's something close to the explanation you're looking for.

The thing is.... He gets pops doesn't he? I mean, I hate Lashley Cena and Batista but I think it was overpushed and pushed too fast. I'm not gonna say they don't get pops.

It's when the front office, in thier infinite wisdom, find a guy and push him to the moon right out of the blue to the point where you're sick of his face after a month. More times than not they can't live up to their promise, regardless of how talented they are, and you just want everybody to shut up about Mr. Mega Push.
See:
Erik Watts: 1991
Rocky Maivia: 1996
Brock Lesnar: 2002
Randy Orton: 2003
Bobby Lashley: 2006
EDIT: Wow, you guys are fast.

Batista was at the right place at the right time, and was a overnight push, though Batista was insanely over. But really hasnt done anything interesting since his fued with Triple H. Lashley came in, with superpush, but really never shined had some liver problems, wasn't ready to headline a smackdown ppv, and booted off smackdown. then handed the ECW as a door prize. Cena actully didnt get pushed to fast, complaired to the other two, he came in as baby face in 02, then had the great heel run in 03, turned face and had a yearlong us title run, before getting the title in 04. It was the right time for Cena to get the world title, its just the booking of his title run hasnt been the best at times.

I don't mind them pushing this talent as long as they are ready. They do panic sometimes by bringing up guys who need that fine tuning.
Guys like Brock & Lashley got pushed way too fast. Batista was ready due to his age more than anything, and with Cena they didn't push him too fast at the start.
People moan that Cena didn't pay his dues, but in the wrestling environment we are in at the moment (desperately looking for a new star) that's understandable. At least they built him up bit by bit, unlike guys like Masters & Lashley who we were expected to treat as main eventers straight away.

John Cena = perfect example of forcing somebody on the public. The only thing WWE has done since spring 2005 is push him on the public almost like he was the 2nd coming of Christ or something.
If he's not having almost year long title runs...he's always #1 contender without question. Not only is he on Raw in at least 2 segments every single Monday...he's been known to be on ECW and Smackdown + Raw for weeks at a time.
Everywhere you turn...there he is. They didn't force Austin or Rock on people this hard and they were 10X more popular than Cena is now.

Lashley gets mild pops, nothing near where a guy in his possition should be getting. A main eventer should be able to own the crowd simply with his words, in ring skills, or comeback. If they dont have any of these things, they are overpushed in my book.

Guys like Brock & Lashley got pushed way too fast. I agree with Lashley and Brock's push was huge at the time but i think he settled into the role as champion pretty much as soon as he won it (Although some would say he wasn't made until the hell in a cell.) Plus, in his championship winning match, Brock, the heel, was being cheered over the Rock. He was pretty damn over by then. In comparison, i still don't buy Lashley as even the ECW champion.
