What makes the difference?
People seem to think that feuds like Kenny vs Flair and Helms vs Hardy were dragged out.
What are some examples of good long feuds? That help define a character?
Obviously people this age or more likely to get bored then 20 years ago and seeing Flair vs Steamboat. Can there be a good LONG drawn out feud with such short attention spans?

Anything before there were 5 or more PPVs...where the build up resulted in one match, not 6, 7, 8 matches

Although, I'm loving the Hardy/Nitro feud, and they've had a ton of matches so far.

The Orton/Taker feud went a long time but it was decent for what it was I suppose.
Eddie/Rey was ridiculous, they had waaayyyy too many matches.

Mickie James vs. Trish Stratus was played to perfection almost. I don't think anybody got bored of it.

Although, I'm loving the Hardy/Nitro feud, and they've had a ton of matches so far. I'm starting to dislike the feud; it's been too 1-sided as of late. Then again, they've been burying all of the heels, so it may just be a face-dominated period.

Raven vs Tommy Dreamer...
My all time fav feud. It spawned heaps of characters memorable moments. It got a little goofy at times, but the goofyness and comedy elements never detracted from the overall thrust of the story.
I think what allowed Raven & Dreamer to have so many great matches without the feud seeming drawn out was that the story was told as much in the ring as it was in promos. You combine that with characters fans could relate to and show actual character development as the feud progresses and you have a winner.

Well, it also kinda doesn't help that whenever they need somebody not a monster to feed to Cena, they go to Johnny Nitro.

I don't know that there's a way to define the difference between the two, you just know a great one when you're seeing it and know a dud when you're seeing it.
Edge vs Cena, never got sick of it. I just hated the way it turned out, logically or not.
Undertaker vs Orton, hated it. Got dull FAST after Summerslam, and of course ended in Orton getting nothing from it.
Raven vs Dreamer, close to perfection. HHH vs Rock, greatness.
DX vs McMahons, horrible.
Austin vs McMahon is a mixed one, just like WCW vs nWo. Both started off brilliantly. Both stayed very entertaining for a long period. But somewhere around 3/4 of the way through, I was begging for it to be over.

Cena/Edge's feud last year didn't feel too dragged out ot me, and it went from January to September effectively Because both guys where diverted into mini feuds and other guys where brought into their main feud. This is what makes a great feud. Like you know that the guys are still feuding but they don't have to face each other every show. I really hate that shit. Rock vs HHH is an example of a great long term feud. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y8368WB-ao

Eddie/Rey was ridiculous, they had waaayyyy too many matches. Gonna have to disagree, I thought it was a great feud, I think they had to have a lot of matches, because every time Eddie lost to Rey he just got more and more intense about it, I even loved it when Dominic got involved because Eddie is that good a heel and Rey is that good a face. I'm also in the minority because I loved the Michaels/McMahon feud and the transition to DX/McMahons. The last example of a long drawn out and boring feud was Steiner vs Test, it was amazing how long that feud went on for, I thought that one started out boring but then when it was like, whoa, they're really dragging this out, it started to get kind of funny.
