I know that Punk is like the golden boy and all, but a fued where he wins constantly was never going to be interesting.
And what's wrong with Holly winning, he's a solid wrestler, good company guy and the eventual Punk victory is a good stepping stone for someone who may be over but needs to get established in the WWE

"after 14 years on being on WWE televison, Holly is the bigger star" Ok, did I miss something? When did Holly won any heat? I only have respect for the man but good lord, he isn´t over. Punk outpopped DX, and he was getting solid reactions. He could be the future. He could be the rose that rised from the feces. But I foresee some bad things for Mr. Punk, if this rumours are true. He won heat when he got his back sliced up.

Yes, I remenber that. It lasted 2 weeks, manly because of bad booking. If he was a babyface, and if he were booked as a never dieng wrestler, taking some crazy bumps but always getting up from them, he could be very very over.
But they prefered to trow that at side, make him a heel. Heh, I f***ing hate the current product. Nothing surprises me, and when it does, it´s something crap-a-riffic.

Yeah it was pretty bad, the fans liked when he rescued RVD the week after his inury, but then crapped over his match with Test that Test won (mostly) clean. So they're like "ummm...let's turn him heel again cause we don't know what we're doing"

If this is the reason for such a "burial" (and I'm being sarcastic...), I kinda agree with WWE... I mean: as talented and over as Punk may be, he's still to be considered a newcomer. To the vast majority of the fans, he's just "that new boy in ECW". So from a global popularity standpoint, the outcome of the Elimination Chamber was ok. Maybe having Punk eliminated first wasn't the best idea, but just being booked in the match was an accomplishment (kayfabe-wise and even not kayfabe-wise) Losing a match on free TV against a veteran like Holly isn't a career-killing thing. Not even a small halt in Punk's push will kill his eventual rise to the top. Funny how the involvment of "smarks approved" bookers like Anderson and Finlay hasn't generated a 50-pages hate thread toward WWE creative team. But I still expect the mandatory "HHH and HBK hate/are jealous of CM Punk. it's all their fault) post

Like I said in the other thread about the Holly/Punk thing...the IWC is wetting themselves. And it's very entertaining.

Forget it. It's over. Punk has been buried, depushed, and made to look like a fool all thanks to one match!!! Relax guys. It's one match. So what, Holly got the best of him that night. Big deal, would you rather every match be 100% predictable, with the guy who's more over and on a winning streak always win? I sure as hell don't.

I like all the "it's just one loss!!!" apologists when the report described a de-push. I'm no expert, but I think a "de-push" entails more than one loss. But what do I know...
I don't much care for the E's version of Punk, but, at this point he's really the only star that WWECW has created. It simply doesn't make sense to slow his momentum whether they like the person behind his initial push or not. I'd say that if the same thing were happening with Shannon Moore (and gawd I hate that guy).
Hearing about stupidity like this only reminds me why I gave up watching.

I'm not huge on Punk but after RVD he is the most-over guy in ECW. Why build-up a nice streak only to have him job to a Bob Holly on a free-tv undercard? That is pretty dumb, especially when you consider the nature of the win. The best Holly should get is a quick roll-up or the Alabama-slam after cheating.

I think having him lose to Holly isnt the point, i find it to be horrible booking but its not gonna kill him to lose one match. The point is if its true that the higher ups dont particularly care for Punk, this could be a sign of things to come. Hes the 2nd most over face in ECW and outpopped DX and the Hardyz at SS. Why not run with that?
Im not saying make him ECW champion right now, although it would be a huge improvement IMO. But why not gradually build toward that? Again this is only if the rumors are true

Let's all just chill out and see what happens on ECW this week. One loss does not a de-push make. If it is a de-push then it's one of the most foolish things the Double Double E has done in the past year, and that's saying something. But I think we should see where this leads before we go all crazy.

I honestly can't believe people get so pissed off about this.
Has anyone ever heard the saying you gotta learn how to lose before you learn how to win. Hardcore Holly beat CM Punk. That means they have something crazy. A feud. An angle.
One of my critiques of smarks is that a lot don't see things through a buisness point of view. They only see their favourites and good matches. And if their favourites lose, then everyone gets all pissy, not understanding that someone has to lose eventually and not understanding that there had to be give in take in feuds most of the time, especially if you have two people on the level of Holly and Punk. And who cares what the outcome was. No matter what, it would have been an uproar, clean or not. So the ending is irrelevant.
Personally, I would have wanted Punk to lose to Mike Knox during their feud, but hey, why not Hardcore Holly. Holly is an established star, and it only helps him to beat CM Punk like this. Plus, what does this do to Punk? Ummm, nothing. CM Punk is still an over star. What, do people think that just because CM Punk lost to Hardcore Holly that ALL of Punk's supporters will stop liking him or something?
Again, no matter what they did with the finish, who cares. Punk lost. The winning streak wasn't that big of a deal anyway, plus they do tend to be overdone.
I think this also stems from the conspiracy theory that I feel hardcore CM Punk fans have that Punk will be held back and screwed over and buried and everything. And now, they have something really small to grasp on and to ride like crazy.

Hey, guys! Let's get really worked up and start pointing fingers at people! Sounds like fun, huh? I bet this was actually Stephanie's doing. Before Triple H went under for surgery, the last words to come out of his mouth were "make CM Punk lose clean", and then Stephanie wanted Punk to lose clean and made Arn Anderson and Finlay use this idea.

I seriously don't understand why everybody in the E hates on Heyman when the guy's pretty damn smart when it comes to getting people over. Why did they even keep him employed when they weren't gonna fully utilize his talents? I think they way Heyman got punk over was purely amazing because during punk's stay, he's hadn't had any really strong promos and has had a couple of good matches. There's no doubt punk can get over, but so could've Jamie Noble, but he wasn't booked properly.
