I'm new to ROH i've seen a couple of DVDs and recently went to the NYC show where Jimmy Rave got a title shot againt Homicide. All i have to say is that Jimmy Rave sucks all i could think while watching the match is why is this jobber getting a title shot. Jimmy Rave would be a HEAt jobber in WWE and a x-division jobber in TNA.

While I do think Rave is over-rated. I don't think he's anywhere near as bad as you're making out.

Jimmy Rave is a classic old school heel, he doesn't need to amaze you, he just needs to make you hate him.
And by the looks of things, he's succeded

All I will say is perhaps you need to watch a few more Rave matches (particularly his series with CM Punk and the GenNext/Embassy feud) before passing too much judgment on his in-ring skills. He was at his best when he had Prince Nana as his manager.

Are we talking about the same Jimmy Rave who had so much heel heat that people threw TP at him?

Rave is awesome. That may sound kinda lame, but it sums it up nicely. He can pace himself wonderfully. Sometimes it may be by holding onto a chinlock or something a bit longer than we like, but unlike some guys *Orton* Rave knows how to work it where it seems like total fun. And it's unpossible to hate that smug face of his.

Rave definitely plays old school heel very well. I just finished reading Regal's book, and his whole thing about being a heel was he didn't have to show-off, he didn't really even have to have a good match because as a heel he really shouldn't give a crap.
Rave also pulls off the crybaby role very well, freaking out when the fans would throw TP at him...

It's shocking to me how man people here haven't gotten into Jimmy Rave.
He's one of the best gigs going, for my money.

I agree. He has never impressed me once. I can't understand how he's gotten such a big push.

Jimmy Rave WAS a Heat jobber, passing out in the Masterlock in 1:37 on March 20, 2005. But Rave is awesome, I don't understand the hate. He's a great heel.

Most of the people I've seen dislike Rave. Not because he's a heel, but because they just don't like him. How can someone who not many liked very much constitute as overrated?

And I like Rave, but I haven't really seen anything of his since Nana left. He always seems to be pissed off. Seriously how does he come out to House of the Rising Sun? I would never have considered that as an entrance theme.

It seems like after the abuse he took from the fans, and after he lost everything with the Embassy, and was losing matches, that he snapped almost and he now slowly walks to the ring, errily calm like in one second he could switch and kill somebody in the audience or something.

I was always thought he was good but it was his match last year in February with Danielson for the title at the Fourth Anniversary Show which made him one of my favorites in ROH.
Sure it was with Dragon, but Rave was great.

Indeed. Rave's become that creepy neighbor you have that you're SURE has a few bodies buried in his backyard.

When I first heard the opening to House of the Rising Sun I thought "what the blazes??" but with the blue lights and the way he slowly walks to the ring barely changing his face makes him seem like if he's pushed any further he's gonna go on a killing spree
