And it was really good. Actually surprisingly good, maybe I've just been to accustomed to WWE diva's "wrestling" but every match was very entertaining and IMO sometimes even better than the stuff you'd see on the bigger promotions. I thought I'd start this thread up after reading this: I'm not gonna be watching Mania this year, so signing this petition means nothing to me. By the way, a better way to show appreciation for women's wrestling would be to pick up some SHIMMER DVDs. [/shameless plug] And I thought I'd see what everyone else thought. I also noticed DSR, you used DVD'(S) as in plural, are there more out right now? I got Volume One in a Best Buy for $10 (a complete steal for what you get) and I wouldn't mind picking up more. So anyway, I highly recommend the DVD, its affordable, entertaining, and really shows you what women's wrestling could be if given the chance.

I had a chance to go to a SHIMMER show with a friend, but she lived up in Pennsylvania and I couldn't afford a plane ticket or the drive at the time. I wish that I had been able to, it would have been awesome.

The DVD is excellent, I'd recommend anyone who says they are a fan of women's wrestling to pick it up. As far as the DVD series goes, there are six volumes so far. They are rolling them out slowly to the retail outlets (Volume 2 was just released), but I believe you can buy all of them online through ROH. Volumes 7&8 are taping in April.

I picked up Vol. 1 at Best Buy, as well, and I really dug it. It made me a MsChif fan. And, need I mention, I <3 Sara Del Ray? As said before, ROH sells the rest of SHIMMER's DVDs. I haven't gotten any beyond Vol. 1 yet, but I fully intend to, as I love women's wrestling.

I usually am not a big fan of women's wrestling at all. Not because of sexism or anything, but because women don't really have time to "practice" as much as men, so a good chunck of the spots either look sloppy or contrived. Because when you think about it, an male indy wrestler can have 8-10 matches a month, but someone like Lacey may only get 2 or 3.
But from what I've seen of the Shimmer women, they don't fit that mold(at least a good portion don't). I've been tempted to buy Vol.1 at BB.

I´ve seen many girls perfoming just as good(If not better, check Ayako Hamada he can tell such great story in the ring that would put 90% of the WWE roster in dead shame.) as the men and some men sucking as hard as it gets.

I'm still dumbfounded as to why Best Buy carries SHIMMER DVDs, but doesn't carry PWG DVDs. What the hell is their deal with Highspots for, anyways? I don't mind having to buy my PWG DVDs at shows and on their website (I refuse to buy them from Highspots, out of principle), but it sure would be nice if I could just drive a few miles to my local Best Buy and buy them. Seriously, how does Big Vision pimp all their DVDs to Best Buy but Highspots (likely the most popular and profitable wrestling store online) can't get a single damn DVD to a Best Buy?

But about 90% of the stuff they finance is crap, which annoys me that Highspots can't seem to ink any deals to get their DVDs into retail chains.

Volume 5 is real good. I'm not big on women's wrestling, but from the dvd I have which is volume 5, it was really good and I can say I was empressed. I probably would not have bought had Allision Danger not talked me into at an ROH show. She is good at doing that, talking you into buying something you don't think you want. But I in ways I was glad I did as it gave me a whole new train of thought on women's wrestling.

I am thinking of taking all of you up on this recommendation! I did see the DVD at a Best Buy once but i didn't get it. I think I should go buy it though, as I am beyond disappointed with the WWE women's stuff.
I wish SHIMMER had some sort of TV show though. The thing about me is that when I watch wrestling, I like having something I can follow from week to week. When you buy a DVD of a random event, it kind of takes the event out of context since you weren't there to see everything that led up to it. That is the primary reason why I don't really buy ROH DVD's. And likewise, it really is a huge reason why I still follow WWE -- because it's there and it's available. All the more reason why they need competition!!
