For at least one night, Dean Malenko will be coming out of retirement. It will be on March 3rd at Plaza de Toros la Monumental de Monterrey working for Toryumon Mexico. Malenko will team with Funaki vs. Mr. Aguila (aka former WWE star Essa Rios) & Damian 666 vs. former ECW star Yoshihiro Tajiri & Ultimo Dragon.

Malenko & Funaki? That seems like a wacky pairing. But it's accepted. The other two teams are neat too. Except for perhaps Aguila. But out of six dudes, five super ones isn't too bad.

I read this, but I read it as Malenko hadn't been in the ring since 2001? Didn't he just have a match with benoit?

Now what's wrong with Mr. Aguila, Mr. Dino? Nothing at all, Davey. Had a brain fart and had Aguila mixed-up with Jesus. Bad move, I know, but now that I've been corrected by a higher power...all six of these guys are top-notch happy in-ring workers.

I didn't know Dean Malenko had officially retired. Who was the last opponent that he wrestled?

I didn't know Dean Malenko had officially retired. Who was the last opponent that he wrestled? He lost his last WWE match against Scotty 2 Hotty. Later he did a few OVW appearences, but his last match ever was, according to my source cagematch.de was "Dean Malenko & Perry Saturn beat Justin Credible & Raven". Cagematch.de has a great database in German & English, but the English version is under construction.

I didn't think WWE would let him have his first match in years outside of WWE.

He just went as Damien then. He was a member of the LWO and mostly was a jobber. Not a bad talent but wasn't a huge star in WCW like Konnan, Mysterio, or Juvi were.
