Went to this show last night, review.
Before the show began, I wasn't that pumped for TXW's first show of 2007- bizarre card and a show missing some of my favourite regulars (and, in Darkside, the best debutant in recent times) didn't suggest a classic. How wrong I was- the show's first half was everything I could have wanted from TXW. The second half wasn't quite as hot, but still had a couple of talking points.
The show will, however, unfortunately be remembered mostly due to the apparently-legitimate beating Dragon Aisu delivered to a fan (who was winding him up about 1PW) after his match: as much as I love Aisu, it's not exactly professional of him and God knows what the fallout will be.
In results from the show, held at Tam O'Shanter's Coventry before a crowd of 100+:
Zak Sabre Jr defeated Ashton Smith on Ashton's debut in another great showing from ZSJ;
Conscience beat Omer Ibrahim by submission in a choice combination of comedy and stiffness;
Jimmy Havok pinned Peter Jay in an unbelievably hard-hitting, heated hardcore-style match;
The Damned Nation (Majik and Aisu) beat Team 70s (Shoes and Light) in a match more notable for the out-of-ring activities;
El Ligero pinned Quentin Hyde-Styles to win the Crush Championship in a fun contest (clearing the thumbtacks post-match took far too much time, though);
Chris Charizma and JP Monroe beat the Legion Of Womb (Jetta and Skye) by DQ in an uncomfortable match where the misogyny was almost unwatchable (after the match, Jezebel and Violet nonsensically joined up with their long-term enemies the LOW);
Jon Ryan pinned Stiro in a good match;
Devilman (on his unadvertised return) and Edgar Stryfe beat the Tartan Mafia (Adam Shame and Falcon) in a predictable main-event, after which jeXodus and the Damned Nation ran in. I smell 8-man action!
