COMBAT ZONE WRESTLING 8TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT IN PHILADELPHIA RESULTS: DRAKE YOUNGER, JUSTICE PAIN, NICK GAGE & MORE
by Ed Shirreffs @ 1:24:00 AM on 2/11/2007
Combat Zone Wrestling held their eight anniversary show, H8, Saturday night at the New Alhambra Arena in Philadelphia, PA. All the talk coming out of the show will be focused on Drake Younger, who has established himself as a legitimate star to the CZW fans.
In a dark match, Metro Sickness defeated the Wild Stallions.
1. Grim Reefer defeated Javi Air.
2. The Great Blazini defeated Ryan McBride after a Shooting Star Press.
3. Derek Frazier & Niles Young defeated Jigsaw & Hallowicked after Noel Harlow interfered.
4. Toby Klein pinned Maven Bentley in a handicapped match. Marvelous Mitch Ryder from IWA-MS was Bentley's partner. Per the stipulations, Necro Butcher is now rehired by CZW.
5. BLK OUT retained the Tag Team Championship against the New Jersey All Stars and Team AnDrew when Sabian pinned Lucky of the NJAS after a top rope senton splash.
6. DJ Hyde won the vacant Iron Man Title by pinning Chris Hero in a three way that included Adam Flash. Hero had the match won, but was distracted by Eddie Kingston. Post match, Kingston accepted Hero's challenge to a Loser Leaves CZW match.
7. In the match of the night, Drake Younger retained the Ultraviolent Underground Title in a three way elimination match against Vortekz and Danny Havoc. Vortekz eliminated Havoc after he sent Havoc off the top rope and to the floor through a pane of glass. Younger pinned Vortekz following a Vertebreaker through a pane of glass.
8. Justice Pain retained the CZW World Heavyweight Championship after pinning Nick Gage following a Pain Thriller. This match was awful, and it appeared Gage suffered an injury.
The fans were demanding refunds and chanting for wrestlers no longer in CZW. Not a single person in the building was happy with the show, and it looked like CZW was about to turn off whatever fans they have left. Mercifully, Justice Pain came back out and issued an open challenge. The crowd's choice, Drake Younger, accepted.
9. Justice Pain retained the CZW World Championship by pinning Drake Younger after a Pain Thriller onto thumbtacks. The match also saw Pain give Younger an Awesome Bomb from the ring through a barbed wire table on the floor. This match literally saved the show, and everyone went home happy. Drake Younger is a legitimate star for CZW now. After the match, Zandig put Younger over huge and set up a rematch for the World Title in April.

Man, I hate to hear that the show was terrible. I mean CZW isn't the greatest thing on Earth, but I've liked what I've seen. Guess I'll have to judge when it comes out on DVD. And I guess Hero will be losing to Kingston in that loser leaves CZW match to go full time with ROH? A guess anyway.
