his current persona seems to just be this bizarre eccentric force that concerns himself with the x-division for some reason, and makes us all laugh. heel or face doesnt seem to even apply anymore, lol.

I agree. In the back of my mind I'm still waiting for him to screw them over (kayfabe wise I mean) but at the forefront he's so damn funny that I like him too much. Tweener doesn't even seem to be the correct term here.

I've always looked at it as him sort of parodying his WCW run. Instead of holding the small guys down blatantly and making everyone hate him, he's revolving his career around them, and secretly exploiting them to get himself over, without actually helping them. He does this through comedy.
