I'm sorry, yes I feel bad for Konnan. Yes he is in a pickle. But you know what? Theres so many other people, the elderly, children, ANYONE, who need a kidney. Not to be in bad taste, but I refuse to donate money to someone who damaged his own kidneys, and who has accomplished so much in life. Plus, if I donate to Konnan, why should I not donate to each and every other patient in need of a kidney? Konnan abused his kidneys and admitted to it. There are so many children in the world who are in need of a kidney that have no control over their ailments. Some will die, some will live. It is quite unfair and selfish in my opinion. Like I said, please don't take this the wrong way, its not meant to be in bad taste, I just find it unfair to every other person who needs a kidney.

I was wondering about that. How'd Konnan's kidney's get damaged? Was it from Drug use?

I'd rather donate money to one of my favorite wrestling personalities than to some 65 year old dude in India. If you don't want to donate anything to anyone, so what? By your logic, no one would ever donate money/a kidney to anyone who needs it.
I know you didn't want it to be in bad taste or for it to sound bad, but I just think that even though he did admit to abusing his kidneys, he still should receive some help from his fans.

But Konnan has provided us with free entertainment on TV for years, I see that a way of justifying it.
Think of it like a tip jar that can save his life.

Yes, you have a very good point, but maybe the reason why Konnan damaged his kidney organs is because the pain and stress he incurred from wrestling. So maybe we owe it to him, since he sacrificed his health in order to keep entertaining us.
That's not meant to be taken as a rhetorical / spiteful statement.

Well as long as it wasn't caused by drug use.

You definitely do have a point, and I really doubt anybody will come down on you for this opinion as it is legitimate.
However, someone like me can't put a face on anybody who needs a kidney other than Konnan... I've always found him entertaining, and more than anything else.... I can put a face to him. Which is my justification.

Remember: Konnan was earning big bucks in the nineties...why didn't he set some aside?
I saw his his shoot tape: the guy has a HUGE house that he refuses to sell. Even when WCW shut down and no one else hired him he refused to sell and instead sold drugs to make a living.
I feel for the guy (basic human compassion and all) but there are many more deserving.

You have a very valid point, I dont think anyone is dumb enuff to say "if you dont give money to a guy that has made a bunch of it during his carrer and has rich friends who could lend it to him you are a scumbag!" but the guy entretains me since I was a young kid watching AAA and he currently needs it so I guess that tip jar analogy fits...

It wasn't the drugs that did it in for his Kidney's. According to his doctors it's likely a combination of his Weightlifting diet and the stress.

Think of it like a tip jar that can save his life. This is a really, really good analogy. Nobody should feel inclined to give a tip, but it's a really nice thing to do. Now I can't help but think of the scene in Reservoir Dogs where Mr. Pink doesn't tip...

It's okay man. I understand where you are coming from. Everyone has their own reasons and yours aren't terrible. Owell... there is a thread on the board with ways to donate to Konnan if you people want to. Click

my sister had a Kidney transplant last year. my family never asked 1 person for a dime. and the insurance wasnt great but all went well. her donor was her husband(good man).
i tend to agree with you on the donation part. if konan did abuse his own kidneys than thats to bad. no offense but what are the chances he doesnt abuse the new kidney as well? there is a huge waiting list for a kidney(My sister waited 4 years)and if it's a case of drugs or booze than another person on the list waits longer while a abuser gets another shot(if they are never going to use again than i can see it. but if they are it just kills the new kidney again)
There is at least 15 sites raising money for konans kidney(1wrestling has $3500 raised so far)so i think the plead for money should cut down pretty soon unless his whole family needs a kidney. i am in no way trying to be mean about this but my family found a way to pay for my sisters without resorting to asking for outside help.
I have been in and out of the hospital over the past 5 years myself with Chronic Kidney Stones and i'm paying off huge hospital bills little by little(so far my kidney stones have run up to $125,000 and my insurance is horrid) so i work to pay bills.
no offense to konan but he has made more money than me and i feel no need to donate when the donations seem to be flying in for him.
i just have one bit of advice for konan: if you do get another kidney cheerish it and cut it if your doing drugs or booze because you will only hurt the help you got from a donor.
