So, who did you believe? Owen or Bret?

Konnan taught Bret the move. Who wanted to steal it from Sting, who copied the move from a japanese wrestler.

I'm not sure who invented the move, but I do know that in the late 80's/early 90's. alot of the guy's that wrestled sting knew the move because they had to sell it for him.

The rightful origin of said move came from New Japan's Riki Choshu. Virgil was 2 Legit 2 Quit, but yet he can't pop 'n lock with the best of 'em.

Who knows? The first true use of the sharpshooter has probably been lost in the pages of history. Cavemen? Mayans? Pilgrims?

Vince McMahon invented everything. Duh.
I don't remember Taylor using it, which is odd because I was a big Red Rooster mark when I was younger. But I do remember Ronnie Garvin's Hammer Jammer. And Adrian Adonis busted it out as early as 1985. I believe Gorilla called it something like a "Standing Reverse Figure Four Leglock" which I guess technically it is.

Mr. Bob Backlund created it while studying at North Dakota State University. The move though, was not Backlund approved, so he gave it up for the more innovative crossface chickenwing.

I dunno. Bret Clarke has a hell of a Sharpshooter. Don't count him out.

Bret without a doubt perfected the move. No on else has ever done the move better than bret. and on the flip side no matter how charismatic "The Rock" is he totally butchered that move...I was legitimately pissed everytime I seen him apply it...He was literally standing up most of the time...Bret tried his damnest to sell that move even trying to wrench as far back as he could while holding Yokozuna's legs up

I think others today, even Benoit don't apply the move as effectively like Bret, Owen or Sting did it. They would sit and pull back looking like they were putting more pressure on their opponent. Today, those doing the move just stand making it look weak.

Shawn sure didn't apply it that well..I wonder how he got Bret to surrender with it!
