RVD's been hugely over for years, if they were smart they would've kept at least the ECW belt on him and used the arrest thing to promote him as rebellious and edgy, the perfect champ for the ECW brand. WWE's reaction was hilarious. So one of the worker's getting busted with weed gives the company a bad name? And I suppose exploiting the death of a worker, the company chairman getting employees to literally kiss his ass on national television, necrophilia storylines etc etc etc give the company a good name. What about the whole Austin/wifebeating thing? Did anybody get depushed because of that? Considering neither was with the company I don't see how.

I thought his "heat" went all the way back to the InVasion when he was ultra-sloppy and busting guys up left und right?

The Iraq heat he got was so intense that six months later he was the champion of two brands.

Was there anybody else who didn't want to go to Iraq? It would be interesting if there was somebody else who didn't want to go but didn't get punished as heavily as RVD does... and he is getting jobbed out like crazy, regardless of the still impressive pops he gets from the crowd. Luther Reigns I thought was let go because he didnt want to go on the first tour of Iraq

First Elimination Chamber. He tried to dive off a cell, couldn't make it and, landed knee on Trips' throat, crushing Trips' wind pipe. "crushed" is the wrong word. There's no way Trips would be alive if his windpipe was totally crushed. Alright, how about, landed on it so damn hard that Trips could barely breathe and passed out when he got backstage due to lack of oxygen? I really don't know another way to put it. I highly doubt he has heat now for injuring Triple H like over 4 years ago...if so...that's ridiculous. That may not be the cause now but, it could have been the start. Plus he already has a reputation for being sloppy so that didn't help at the time.

RVD has had heat for pretty mucch his entire WWE career.
When he first came to the company it was for being stiff. He still got a chance to make the Hardcore title look good, so he lost the title to Undertaker who did nothing with it except lose it to Maven.
He was climbing out of that hole with some IC runs and great matches, and was to be a focal point for RAW until Triple H came over. He then got depushed, even losing a spot on the Armageddon PPV after injuring Trips.
After a couple years off doing nothing of note he got his chance at the top, winning the WWE title and being crowned the ECW champion, then he had to be stupid and get busted for drugs. The depush from there, along with his refusal to go to Iraq (cant blame him there) and his declining to renew his contract have led him where he is now.

Rob Van Dam has backstage heat because of the drug bust. Not going to Iraq didn't help. Though, it seems stupid he should have heat for getting busted for drugs when a lot WWE Champions have done worse.

I'm just saying when I think crushed i mean pulverized to the point that the windpipe is nonfunctional permanently and thus results in death, sorry to be so anal-retentive over it.

Even if not going to Iraq didn't outright get RVD depushed, it sure as hell didn't score him any points either. If they can't rely on him to go to Iraq for a show, how can they rely on him for any other special event?
And all the other stupid stuff he'd done doesn't help him either. Individually, I wouldn't call any of them career wrecking. But when you take them all together, I think you should be able to understand why he's been in mid-card hell for most of his WWE career.
I doubt we'll ever see him on the top of the card ever again for the rest of his WWE career. It's way too easy for the McMahons to write him off as "unreliable."

Not 100% sure, considering i'm not a WWE employee end/or Vince/RVD.

I can understand not wanting to go to Iraq, I guess. But RVD doesn't seem to walk the line as they would like him to. I would imagine the only reason he is still under the E hood is because of how popular he is. He's an ECW original, but he's one of those transplanted E ones.

Whenever i see the phrase "RVD Heat" in a post, i always hope that the post will be about the end falling off RVD's joint and setting fire to something. It never is of course, but I live in hope.

Traffic bust, Injuring Trips, not going to Iraq or being sloppy in the ring. Take your pick. Traffic Bust---yep, stupid thing HHH Inury--sorry, but HHH is injury prone. that's what happens when you hit the juice. Sloppy--with about 90% of WWEs roster Iraq--big whoop, I wouldn't go either. they asked him to go because they knew his answer and was looking for something to hold against him
