I think that's the problem. It IS in kayfabe. We need to separate.

When Eddie decided to do the frogsplash as a tribute to Art Barr, it wasn't "in character" or anything. He legit wanted to honor his late tag partner. (and, if the stories are right, he did it in lieu of having some storyline where Art was a centerpiece after death. Gee, who'da thunk it?) Comparing the situation with Chavo now is apples and oranges... and personally, I wish he could just do it, have it be a tribute to Eddie and have done with it. I'm tired of this being dragged out interminably. Enough. Having this storyline continue is doing NOTHING to honor Eddie.

This kind of reminds me of something mick foley said about his ecw feud with tommy dreamer, it was something about the best heels being where you can see the logic behind their actions.
But there is a huge difference between seeing the logic and the heel being outright correct in every possible way.
