WWF withdrawl of NWA

When did the WWF withdraw from the NWA? I thought they were completely separate since 1963 when Vince McMahon and Toots Mondt made Buddy Rogers the WWWF Champion. But I was on www.wrestling-titles.com and I saw this:

WWF withdraws from NWA in 83 and buys the right of the women's world titles from Moolah; Moolah continues to be recognized as WWF Women's World champion.

I thought they withdrew in the '60s but, Vince SR. was on the NWA Board of Directors until he retired in '83.

Hmm... I don't know, but if you've ever seen the "McMahon" special thing they had on 24/7 a few months back, they show a video clip of him on the NWA set being interviewed by David Crockett I believe. Very surreal to see, at least for me.

They withdrew in the early 60s to create their own world title, but Vince Sr stayed on the board of directors for many years later. He was one of the guys who voted yes for Flairs first title run.
