I was watching the final match from that night the
Shane, RVD, Booker T, Stone Cold and Kurt Angle
vs
Big Show, Kane, Undertaker, The Rock and Jericho
While watching it I kept in mind all of the stick that the whole invasion angle got, and I thought this match was amazing. It was so star studded and was just awesome, maybe not the best in ring work ever. Even though you knew WWF was going to win, the suspense throughout the last 10 minutes was just great when it was just left down to Austin and The Rock.
From going back and watching this it has made me realise the invasion wasn't THAT bad.

The invasion was a great storyline. But it just shouldn't have had the WCW and ECW names attached to it, because that's not what it was.

I agree that match was excellent. Where the problem lies though is with the names that represented the Alliance.
Steve Austin? Kurt Angle? Shane McMahon?
These people are who represents WCW and ECW? Thats what was wrong with the whole storyline. RVD and Booker were basically just afterthoughts thrown onto that team. It was all about Shane, since he was the WCW owner, Austin who was the "leader" of the Alliance, and Kurt Angle who had just defected.
And basically all their reaction shots in the back were on Stephanie McMahon who "owned" ECW.

Terrible match because it represented everything that was wrong with the Invasion storyline.
RVD and Booker T were treated as irrelevant. The onus was on Jericho/Rock's feud. Austin and Angle as WCW leaders was absurd and Stephanie as ECW figurehead was insulting, and Shane should never ever be placed in such a high profile match.
