Intercontinental Title match at Wrestlemania

The Intercontinental Title hasn't been defended at Wrestlemania since Wrestlemania 18 (Rob Van Dam vs. William Regal). Do you think it will be defended this year and would you like to see an IC Title match at Wrestlemania this year?

Since it's the 20th anniversary of WMIII, I'd like to see Steamboat involved with an IC title match in some capacity, like guest referee or something.

Imagine a four-way I-C title dance between champ Hardy taking on Chris Masters, Ric Flair and Carlito w/ Steamboat as the spec ref. That would absolutely blow the Savage vs Steamboat WM 3 match out of the water. I can smell match of the year already.

I'd love to see Hardy vs. Kenny with a nice build-up (I'll keep dreaming) for the IC title at WM. Maybe throw in Super Crazy as well because he's awesome.

Greg Valentine held the IC belt for a while, and I bet you if the internet was alive back then, people will say the belt has lost value. I think the IC title still means something and I might go as far and say the IC title is probably higher than the WWE title right now.

I don't mind the title not being defended at Wrestlemania. It isn't like the world belt, where it has to be defended. The only thing it needs is a belt change back to the old one, as the current belt looks too small.

I agree about the design 100%. I never liked it, I always picture the Shawn Michaels/Razor Ramon designed belt from back in the day. I only say those two names because I think of the amazing ladder match from WM X.

I think the last time it had a good bit of credibility was when, of all people, Triple H beat Jeff Hardy for it during the Two-Man Power Trip angle with Austin back in 2001. The belt had been bounced around from person to person, and to make Triple H, who had already been a multiple WWF Champ, want the IC title made it impressive again.

I know that sounds flawed, but you had an established guy with the title instead of some spotfiller.

I'm hoping so. I don't see Jeff defending it thou. He'll drop it I think and maybe Kenny will defend it vs someone. But unfortunately, I see the us title being defended this year and not the ic title.

With that combo, I smell something alright. But it ain't an MOTYC.

The Hardys, for some reason I will never understand, draw well together. There will not be an IC title match as long as Hardy is the champ. I guarantee the Hardys will have a match vs a tag team, most likely MNM.

But word on the street is that Vince doesn't want the Hardys and MNM teaming anymore and he wants them all in singles competition. Because tag teams are so 80s.
