When did the WWF/E get so many writers?

I mean yea they've always had guys writing stuff behind the scenes, but as Roddy Piper has stated, they didn't used to script every single word that the wrestlers said, they gave them some leeway to run with their own stuff, not only in interviews but with their gimmicks. Now the more I read about the magazine writers(who I assume have a hand in the show) it's really annoying the hell outta me how they can come up with lame shit like "K-Fed has done it all" It's like the'yre getting more and more power to write and the wrestlers have less say.

So when did it all start to get out of hand?
