I'd assume that a guy like Rob Van Dam could easily pull in a quarter million outside of the WWE. TNA would pay him a solid downside for 3 days/month, plus I'm not too sure about that. You only get 2 or 3 grand at the most for an indie match and TNA are in the middle of cutting costs so they couldn't give him angle or even christian money. Let's say RVD works just 4 indie shows a month at $2,500 a pop. 12 x 4 = 48 shows per year 48 x 2,500 = $120,000 Eliminate any time he'd be working in Japan and add in better money from TNA (who would bend over backwards for him - I call shennanigans if anyone thinks RVD would draw less cash than Steiner at this point). RVD could make a living that would be equivalent to a $250000 WWE downside, and be freer to live his lifestyle without a wellness policy.

the wrestling observer also is reporting that dave meltzler is wrong almost always And yet he's still the most widely respected news source in the wrestling world... Yeah. Always wrong... More like occasionally wrong because Vince McMahon and his wacky Yes Men change their minds every three minutes, but correct most of the time when he can find a credible inside source.

His first few matches will be a big deal, hence the large price tag, but after that it won't be such a big deal to people.
