Rob Van Dam's current WWE contract includes a $250,000 downside guarantee, but obviously he makes more with merchandise. Dave Meltzer is reporting that RVD has a standing offer from All Japan. RVD has said he will make his decision based on money.

What you also have to remember is that these guys made crap while working their way up in the indies getting paid from as little as $10 a show. There's also training that they had to go through.

Dude, imagine paying rent AND paying for a hotel room 4 days a week AND driving 4-5 hours a day or flying cross country twice a week all the while maintaining a somewhat healthy diet and working out. The money adds up very quickly. Plus RVD's been doing this for over a decade, and like people said, when he started out he probably made $20 a show if he was lucky. It's not like he's some young punk who's making that kind of cash.

There used to be websites that counted down when certain actresses would reach 18 and be legal. I'm surprised no one has done one for when RVD's contract expires.

I'd assume that a guy like Rob Van Dam could easily pull in a quarter million outside of the WWE. TNA would pay him a solid downside for 3 days/month, plus RVD vs. Jerry Lynn could be just the thing to make the X-Division belt the TNA Intercontinental Belt. I could easily see ROH bring him in for a Raven/Punk-ish program. He'd draw money, be pretty good for DVD sales and merch on the site. Any of the major Japanese promotions could draw well with RVD in the fold.
Guys like Hero, Punk, Joe, Double C, etc., have been able to make solid livings wrestling in the indies, and none of them had the kind of star power of RVD when they started to do so.

You only get 2 or 3 grand at the most for an indie match and TNA are in the middle of cutting costs so they couldn't give him angle or even christian money.
