There have been some polls about if Jeff could ever get the big one, now I'd like opinions on Matt. I personally feel that he's the better of the two both in the ring and on the mic. But for some reason, he never gets nearly the push as his brother, though he deserves it. Aside from Taker and Benoit, he's probably the best face on Smackdown. Can he ever get top gold? If he did, how would you react?

I'd love for it to take place. Matt is one of the most awesome dudes in the 'E, so, YAY!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I-I'm sorry, but that's too funny. Him as Champ.
They gave the IC title to his brother as soon as he came back. Matt's been there for over a year and hasn't amount to jack.

How could they possibly "explain" that?
A lifetime midcarder, often on the losing side, suddenly gets unbeatable and becomes Champion?
That'd make look Rey's Underdog Run as dominant!
The fact Matt is over with the fans, doesn't mean he's Championship material. They like him for what he is... midcard pops don't equal main-event pops.

For those who think it's not possible, I have two words for you:
Rey Mysterio.
'nuff said.

Remember, though, Bret Hart was a lifetime midcarder from 1986-92. All of a sudden he gets the belt at a house show, and is the most over guy in the company to the point where people were pissed that Hogan took the belt back at WM9.

Bret Hart was not a career midcarder, in 1992 he MAIN EVENTED Summerslam, along with getting the first pin EVER in WWF on Roddy Piper. Bret Hart was pushed to the main event and the win over Ric Flair cemented him. The only thing Matt Hardy has comparable to Bret is the greasy hair.
The way I remember people were pissed that Hogan came in and just won the belt with no fanfare over yokozuna.
Yoko got his revenge though and we had the build up of bret once again towards main eventing.
I hate both Hardy Boyz, and in that ladder match I was rooting all the Way for the Undertaker.
i hate the Hardy Boyz, and they are just fine as career midcarders. That's where they make the best fit.
Jeez if getting big pops and being a competent wrestler was all you needed to be champion, where was the outcry for X-pac to be world champion?
Rey Mysterio has all of the intangibles that Matt Hardy doesn't have.

I feel it is possible. The Hardys are super over lately and are in huge feud with MNM that could see them getting higher in the card. It wont be for years though in my opinion. But is it possible? Yeah I think so. I also think Mercury could have a title run as well. Also sadly on Smackdown he is one of the top faces behind Batista, Taker, And Benoit. They're all getting up there in age so he might be the only choice. He isn't a terrible one in my opinion.

Rey Mysterio has all of the intangibles that Matt Hardy doesn't have. Yeah, we're gonna disagree on this one. The "intangibles" theory, I call crap and I put in the same vein that wrestling is "cyclical" and not in the Jim Cornette way. You don't get a champion from day 1. You have to groom him on the mic, in the ring, and in the eyes of the fans. If you DO get one, you're either extremely lucky, or you've created an environment where this guy can shine without you having to do anything for him. So, I say, yes, it's possible, if the WWE wants it, they'll find a way to make it and make it look good.

Its kind of funny you mention that, i've always said the only difference between Bret Hart and Matt Hardy is a push. But I also believe Bret is the most overrated wrestler i've ever seen. Its not possible and i'd hate it...admittedly i'd like it better than Rey's title run but thats not saying much.

I would say if it were 4-5 years ago when he was doing his "Mattitude" gimmick, and they built him up properly, he could have been World Champion. It's highly unlikely now, seeing as he's stuck jobbing in the midcard.

They really should have stuck to the V1 gimmick. That was going places. Now....not so much.
