As to why Val Venis has been enhancement talent for a big part of his career even though he was pretty over and (I find) is pretty good in the ring.

Q: I've wondered for a long time why Val Venis has never really been pushed all that hard. He's been with WWE for years, is talented, has a good look, etc but he's almost always used as a jobber. Do you have any insight as to why he hasn't had any kind of a push in forever?
A: Val is one of those guys who are hampered by the fact that he never complains or politics for more of a push. He is well liked but gets lost in the shuffle because he is too nice.

But at least he's liked so that when he's lost in the shuffle and they decide to clean up the shuffle with roster cuts, they see him and say "Oh, he's a good worker, we like him" and thus spare him from a firing.  |

Being easy to work with can save your ass with the spring cleaning. And Venis did get enough chances to get over, WWE just never followed up on it and allowed his heat to die. Now they have a good and entertaining wrestler, who is easy to work with. But they don't know what to do with him. He is too good to fire and actually has a purpose. He's just the perfect jobber.  |
